@@roughhabit9085 well, you're not really fair: he inherited the second biggest recession ever and started with footing the bill of Bush's $700 billion (~$973 billion in 2023) asked to Congress to purchase troubled mortgage assets and contain the financial crisis in Sept 2008 (later came the help to car industry , airlines industry etc). Trump instead, for example, inherited a running economy and left with another recession (it seems republicans bring recessions and democrats have to fix it) in April - May 2020 when the United States economy contracted by 3.5%, the worst performance since the Second World War, when, by October 2020, more than 10 million unemployment cases had been filed in the United States. If you compare the debt accumulated by Trump in 4 years and Obama in 8 years you'll see that the first, proportionally, accumulated double debt than the second.

Food companies are still making record profits and doing massive stock buybacks. . The stresses caused by a cost of living increase don't abate instantly. Many people out there have gone into debt, can't pay their taxes, have had to skimp, and those shortfalls are still real even if the impetus stopped last year. Making this an intelligent policy- partly cynically because it strikes a chord, but maybe also to stop this happening again. Any protections to the people from corporate greed should be applauded. I for the first time feel there is hope not just for the US but the world. Let's hope the sincerity of Obama's words, his dignified respect for all may help unveil the deceit and lies that the opposing party has engaged in for far too long. The USA either survives and flourishes working together as best as its citizens can or unleashed hatred and vitriol will be the norm. Obama is inspiring in every way. Because one word shines a light on, he and his followers. They consist of a base which is base. So yes, Trump is definitely base and now it appears a base under siege. He should never be forgiven what he has done to divide and spread hate and lies. His supporters are hard to comprehend. How can any person with a grain of conscience support the vicious cruelty and manipulation which is personified in Donald Trump. He has no morality. He has no ethics. He has no decency, and he is increasingly heading towards zero in intellect and articulation. May he fade away and only ever be remembered as a malignant sore that festered and tried valiantly to avoid healing. Fortunately, Kamala and her team know how to distinguish fires and heal and offer a sense of optimism.

I do not know what those graphs say but as an American consumer I can say that grocery prices continue to go up since the pandemic . They never went down after the supply chain caught up with demand. I live just above the poverty level. I have not had a raise in five years. I have cut my grocery budget every way I can. And the price of groceries goes up every week. May not be the place, but I just want to throw it out there: Part of me wants to see Harris embrace her lack of tangible policies and keep the election about values. It’s pretty clear from her time with President Biden that she’s willing to work with republicans to come up with solutions to problems. At this stage, a part of me wonders whether it would be a great and brave move to be honest and say, “yep, detailed policy is negotiable within a certain set of values”and continue to keep those values very clear. The core values and beliefs are the really clear differences between the candidates.
