Thank you for your videos. I am an America and the man I am marrying is coming from Ilorun (sp.) Nigeria. He is Yoruba and I want to make him feel welcome here by studying and cooking the food he is used to. I will have time to practice so that he will not run 🏃🏿 back to Nigeria! Thank you!

Thanks a lot. I have been looking for this recipe for Okro but haven’t found one yet on KZbin. I’m a Ghanaian but I eat Nigerian food. I ate some of this stew with okro and pounded yam like how the Yoruba people do it. I’m glad I know the difference now. I was confusing it with ofada or buka stew. Thanks again.

The authentic taste for this particular stew is from the palm oil. You can use any other oil you want ( preferably flavorless oil e.g canola oil) however, it will not be this same taste as with palm oil and it will just be a regular stew. I have a video on that too on my channel. You can check it out if you want to.

@Veeluvstocook

Hi Esty. How I cook my meat is the same way I cook my meat in my other traditional soup recipes on my channel. As for brining the fish, there is really nothing much to it. You just remove the scales from the fish, add enough salt to taste into water of amount that will cover up the fish before you start cooking and there you have it. let me know if you need more help aiit.

I really enjoyed watching you make this stew. Exactly what I’ve been looking for. This can be eaten with plain okra soup or rice right? Was that tatashe you used? I don’t seem to find that in here only bell peppers and it sweetens the stew which I don’t really enjoy. Do you have a trick in finding tatashe? Awww... I am so glad you found my channel and this was what you have been looking for. Thanks for the support. Sure, we have become friends🤗🤗. Yes you can have it with swallow by pairing it with the plain okro. That is actually what I do... As for finding tatashe my sister, the struggle is real. I dont think I have ever seen her. Sometimes I just imagine that the Italian long pepper is tatashe but surely it is not. Have you see. My :fry your best stew yet video on my channel. The trick I like to use especially if the sweetness of red bell pepper is too much for you is to strike a balance by adding few green bell pepper and /or tomatoes to the stew. You didn't say how long you cooked the tomatoes.
@Veeluvstocook
@Veeluvstocook 5 жыл бұрын
Time varies according to various cooking conditions e.g the stove top temperature, the amount of acidity in your tomatoes, your level of tolerated acidity level. That said,this is what you should aim at: keep having a taste of the soup while cooking to ensure that the raw taste (tangy/acidity)of the tomatoes mix is gone( or better put, is satisfying to your palate). Once satisfied with the taste your tomato is done for you. I hope this explanation makes sense to you.

What's the point of long cooking watery tomato, wasting gas. I sieve tomato with cloth to avoid longer cooking and there's no tanginess

I was told that if you stir like that at the beginning the sour taste never goes away
@Veeluvstocook
@Veeluvstocook 4 жыл бұрын
Gabe Segun never heard of that before... 😊guess I am learning. However though there was no sour taste from the way I did it so maybe it is one of those things they tell us but doesn’t really come out the way they say it if you do the opposite☺️. Thanks for your comment.

@Veeluvstocook
@Veeluvstocook 4 жыл бұрын
I can’t tell you the exact time it will take to cook because of some variable, e.g your taste palate( how tangy you taste it), the gas stove temperature used, even up to the tomato used can alter the time. Etc. However I did tell you what you should look out for to certify doneness . Hopefully you didn’t miss that information and this helps. Stay safe

linking straight with you fingers from the spoon is not hygienic . dab little in your palm and lick thanks.

Thanks for your constructive criticism. Having said that, my hands are always kept clean when cooking and before I take a taste(given I was stirring with a spatula not a regular spoon). I do both depending on what I feel comfortable with at the time. So I dont see any thing unhygienic about it. Thanks

My dear which accent are you talking about? I AM ME 100percent so look for someone that is not themselves elsewhere. This is my outlet and I will speak for how long necessary I feel is needed(60 to 90sec of intro is too much talk🤔🤔🤔🤔). Anyways,To each his own. Best of luck to you too. Stay positive
