57:00 … you’re right; 5 voices isn’t a lot … 6 is generally a bare minimum for me. It’s a nice little package for the price, comparatively speaking, I guess …

I agree, i loved Oberheim with a passion, but their early 80's poly synths were lacking slightly in my mind...then came the Xpander....the possibilities were endless. I bought the first one our shop imported.
@knobsswitchesАй бұрын
I had my first Xpander in 1991, the time of Nitzer Ebb and Front 242, and I was thrilled. The previous Owner was The Flippers ;-) In the meantime, I've owned three and sold them again and again and have always regretted it. The form factor was always an issue for me. I missed the direct access with a keyboard. The Matrix 12 was always too expensive for me, as it didn't go any further than more voices. I would have loved an Xpander-Keyboard. Unfortunately, the Matrix 6 was no substitute. So the TEO-5 now closes this gap for me.
@murraybartley4467Ай бұрын
@knobsswitches I'm kind of a purist as far as the analogue signal path is concerned, and i noticed differences in the Matrix 6 and maybe 12, to the Xpander. Plus i don't think they had all the filters the expander has....still....i wish i had have bought one!! Either would be nice with the Xpander. Teo 5 looks and sounds great, been checking it out myself, that should keep you happy for a while, though i find five voices...cruel. I bought a Behringer UB-Xa two months ago, not too bad, i really wanted it mainly for the poly aftertouch cos my Kronos LS don't got it, but receives it. It's kinda heaven...though the aftertouch mechanism on the UB-Xa is crap and has degraded very quickly....to the point of money back.

@@murraybartley4467 The Matrix 6 definitely does not have all filters on board. However, the Matrix 12 is identical to the Xpander in this aspect

This definitely does the Xpander modulation matrix tricks... For fans of early Nine Inch Nails and late 80s Depeche Mode, this is a great synth to have at that price point.

OK, gotta call you out on the demo section concerning the reverb. Would have be better to give us a sharp single pluck, so we could hear the nuances of predelay, size, decay, etc. Just my 2 cents. The pulsating chord wash doesn't really lets us hear what we want to analyze that type of effect. Sorry. Still huge props on the totality of review.,

What's your preference between this and the polybrute 6 I had a hard time deciding but went with the polybrute just curious what your thoughts are
@knobsswitches3 ай бұрын
hmm. not easy. i would say that the basic sound of the TEO-5 is broader and you are satisfied with a sound more quickly. With the Polybrute, you have to use the Mod Matrix to make the sound more interesting. That's quicker with the TEO-5.
