@@hartplastikkaktus You paid better attention to the ages than I did. 🙂 Anyway, cpl wks ago I decided to put my dog on a diet - we've all gained weight in 2020! - and I can see a difference already in his energy level. The DisneyAddict. Being busy doesn’t justify neglect. I’m a very busy person and I still make time for my pets. If you personally don’t have time for pets, don’t get one. Being “busy” isn’t an excuse. You still need to be responsible.

Seeing the misery in Obie's eyes before his weight loss, it was absolutely heartbreaking.
@videogollumer
@videogollumer 3 жыл бұрын
His eyes were kinda sunken in, and he had a lot of wrinkles on his face; so I think he looked like that because of his excess fat. Basically, even his face was flabby. I'm not saying he wasn't miserable; I mean he could barely walk less than 20 steps without having to catch his breath, but I feel like his weight affected his facial expression physically as well as emotionally, if you get what I mean.

MrsBrit1 Do not call it a toxic home. The original family owner had a plea for help to help Obie because it was beyond their power and that person did the right thing because Obie would have most likely died and by giving that dog up to people like this girl, his life was saved. But it was the people in your so called “toxic home” that got him the help he needed. Most disrespectful thing I’ve ever read.

@@kirbylover37 my grandmother can barely recognize her own daughter. She can and will spend all day in bed unless someone gets her up because she's forgotten what time it is. No clocks don't help, even if its light out she'll think it's either early AM or late PM and she should go to sleep. She's nearly died before because she didn't remember anything about her medication and condition and frequently insists she's in her 70s when she's reaching 90. Yeah. I fully believe that two adults with Alzheimers would overfeed their dog. For one I don't expect people with the disease to be able to work a telephone let alone have enough sense to work an app. If they themselves didn't have a caretaker then it was a disaster waiting to happen.

@@TailcoatGames The reason I was saying that is, I knew a family that did pretty much the same thing with their pet dog. They just kept giving it the wrong food and too much. When the dog passed away due to obesity, they went out and bought another dog and did exactly the same thing. Fortunately, someone reported them to the RSPCA and the dog was taken away and another family took on the responsibility and did very much the same as in the video. The dog is still alive and doing very well at about a quarter of the weight it used to be. The end of the story is, they were not allowed to own another pet. Incidentally, I use 2 accounts with you-tube, Willo's and Dave Clarke, so that is why you see different icons in my posts.

xav. True, though there is a line between a bigger body figure and unhealthy obesity. For example, someone with a broader build and more muscle mass can still be healthy, you don’t need to be a skinny beach body girl to be considered a healthy weight. Genetic body size is natural. Key word: natural. When people start putting on weight because they don’t eat healthily enough or don’t exercise enough is when it starts getting dangerous. It can lead to diabetes and make people more prone to illnesses like cancer. They just have an unhealthy and unnatural amount of weight. There was a swimmer at my old school who had a larger body type, but she was one of the best swimmers, constantly making the nationals. She had a healthy body, though it was larger. She was an idol to many other swimmers in the school, including me. Anyone can be healthy with their natural body size or shape, though people are starting to get misled and promote obesity as “body confidence”, though they’re slacking off and not taking care of themselves properly. Feminists are right in thinking that having a positive self image is important, though when it starts shrouding people from the truth that their bodies are deteriorating is when it gets dangerous. Like how at the beginning, Obie is incredibly obese, but at the end, he still has a bigger figure, but he is healthier. I hope this clears things up. I’m not trying to attack or make fun of anyone with a bigger body figure, I’m just trying to explain how people can be healthy with a bigger figure and how people can be unhealthy. Everyone is beautiful, but not everyone is healthy, is basically what I’m trying to say. You don’t need to be a pro athlete to be healthy, they’re just incredibly fit. You just need to make sure that you’re not putting on too much necessary weight and keeping active. You can have sweets and treats, but that shouldn’t be the base of your diet, and should be balanced with a healthy diet and exercise. And even a small walk a day can help start good habits. We all have the potential, as shown in this video.

This is another form of abuse to allow one's dog to get that big, to the point of obesity. Glad this lovely lady helped him to lose weight and to live a normal life. Edit: Whether it's intentional or un-intentional, I still considered it abuse. We can be well meaning and still harm our love ones. Ever heard of the saying, "The road to hell is paved with good intention". Example: A mother, who loves her child so much, that she allows him to eat whatever he wants, doesn't matter that it's harmful to him down the road, but because it makes her child happy and it makes her feel good, she'll continue to give him what ever he wants. She means well and her intentions are good but in the end, she is still harming her child. That's abuse. As for the comment of the original owners having dementia, okay, that's understandable and excusable because they were totally not right in their head.

I agree Terrie. A short while ago the dodo posted a similar story about an obese cat. It was astounding how many people seemed to think that was fine. It was the first time I read so much hate on the dodo🙄

I've had dachshunds since I was 11! They are the most loving, hard headed, determined, sassy, and saucy little guys that have not only my heart, but both my kids hearts as well! The one we have now is 8 years old, and was literally born in my lap! And I knew from the moment he was born that I had to keep him! He's just so loving, and FULL of sass! He's definitely a very important member of our family, and really makes you feel better just by being in your lap, and lots of kisses! I'll ALWAYS have a dachshund, and luckily my husband understands why!😆💙🐶🐾
