I just found this lady, & her videos on here and have subscribed. I love the care she takes with the animals to make sure she is gentle and cares more about the safety and wellbeing of the animals than any other shearer I have ever seen, what a pleasant treat! I think she's awesome! I also think the standards that she follows should be the standard, and the norm, rather than the exception. Love, care, and compassion, over profits!! Oh, and I also noticed how well the animals sit/lay for her, and don't mind being handled. What a difference from how I usually see them being handled, where the shearers' are fast, but rough, and leave knicks & cuts all over the poor animal, leaving it traumatized as hell! So, as I said before, the way this lady shears should be the norm & industry standard & not the exception. So once again love, care, & compassion over profits!

Every video I’ve watched before has the sheep shearer leaving bloody cuts all over. This sheep shearing is so incredibly done. They are so gentle.
@PurdueAlum01 Жыл бұрын
So nice and gentle that's a lucky sheep under there. I understand about not wanting second cuts in the wool, but I don't really understand about once the wool is off and collected, why don't they go back and clean up the ridges on the sheep then if they are concerned about the general look of the sheep. I know it's another 4 or 6 minute sheer, but between missing the last year's sheer and having an overweight sheep they know this will be an extra long task from the start...don't they charge a little extra anyway, or at least expect to spend some extra time, right? Maybe make up the difference on KZbin? (Not joking but serious....) And that large bag of mats, dirt and oil she mentions...does that get used as wool or whatever or is it too matted and discarded? Just curious... hope she addresses sometime. Love these sheep, sheers and shorts.

@communityorganizer5645 Жыл бұрын
She didn't look obese at the end. I was surprised by the lack of girth that I expected to see.
@SilverScaleMA Жыл бұрын
Well, obesity is often a side effect of not shearing sheep. They get too hot if they move too much, especially during the summer, so they move as little as possible. That in turn decreases the tone of muscle which lowers baseline metabolism which means more extra calories go to fat rather than straight to their body's use. Then the more fat they have the more likely to overheat they will be. Essentially not shearing ends up becoming a vicious cycle that eventually ends up with a dead sheep if not corrected, either from overheating or from the various health issues that eventually will happen from the obesity. Just shear the sheep, they are much healthier that way...
@podunkest Жыл бұрын
@@SilverScaleMA not to mention if you have a large flock, I'm sure it's easy to overlook one or not notice if they get a little chunky, given all the other crap you are constantly busy with keeping a farm and living life in general.
@ElysetheEevee Жыл бұрын
Someone said the Creator said the farmer has COVID during shearing season last year. If you don't know the situation like you claim, I feel like you shouldn't be putting out negative thoughts in the first place. You're going to influence others thoughts and judgements just by adding it in, whether or not you put a "disclaimer" in the front. Just a thought. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I'm just sharing what it seems to be like from someone reading this on the outside.
@wildmoose6934 Жыл бұрын
@@ElysetheEevee I mean, COVID or not that sheep was still suffering... Or at least in discomfort. It's not fair to just say "well the owner was sick so they neglected their herd, what we gonna do 'bout it". I think raising awareness to the dangers of obesity and overgrowth will instead lead to trying to find more solutions to help alleviate that pain. If I'm sick and i can't take care of my animals, I'm gonna ask people to help you know? I doubt that a professional will look at that poor sheep and go "no money no sheering, let's just watch that sheep suffer because you can't afford to get help". And if they did then I just lost a bit of hope in humanity...

Так вот только они специально их долго не стригут, а овцам тяжело.

Wow! Katie, I’m not sure who I want to say “Bless your heart” for. You for tackling that fleece or the sheep for carrying that load- I’ll say it for both of you lol

Holy smokes! I give you and your wife a ton of credit. I work outside in New England all year long and I wouldn’t trade a 100 degree hot August day with you to do that. Godspeed!

IF you really have broken dreams, that LEAVES you free to make new life plans. Take more small vacations. Learn to swing dance or some other style. . Take a COOKING class. Volunteer to walk dogs at the shelter.. go to a New to You.section of the library, such as Russian poetry, try a different coffee shop and strike up a conversation buy a good coloring book and good pencils, and do that while listening to your favorite music. Give the comp leted pictures to a head start school. As paul Simon said," Make a new plan Stan". ( But it's not about leaving your lover, for you. Its about enjoying your life by yourself, until it changes again! ) Best WISHES!!

people like me that do sheep shearing for a living are rough but sheep don't care they are sheep and can be difficult to deal with so some may be easier to be rough and plus we get paid per sheep so we try to do a sheep a minute

@@yupp561 I've seen guys who are way way rougher then I am as in if they get mad at the dam sheep they wack it or something. I'm only rough in terms of turning and grabbing it because you kind of have to be with some of the big fellas as they kick and fight.

@@ridingwithjack2037that doesn’t make sense they are sheep so they don’t care about pain or being hurt??
