Highlight From Episode 752: • Will Tom & Christina B...
Christina and Tom discover a totally tok’d social justice warrior who proclaims that the “obesity epidemic is a lie created by western medicine” and that “fat-phobia is a direct result of anti-blackness.” This leads them to take a walk down memory lane and recount all the times they stuffed their faces egregious amounts of sushi back in South Bay. They finish it off with a lesson on centrifugal force by way of an obese woman on a ride of a lifetime.

There's two kinds of people you never see saying this stuff: doctors and thin people. How come no thin doctors are saying "Obesity is actually not a problem?" You know why, and so do I. Because I'm fat too. It doesn't take much work to be fat, but I'm not interested in working as hard as it takes to be that delusional. Look at me, fat and familiar with reality. - trevor.

A buddy of mine used to weigh 600 pounds. He’s a huge (tall guy) he now weighs 300 lbs. he went on ozempic which helped him learn what correct food portions were. He’s been off it for over a year now and has kept it off. He works out and eats better. I say this all bc while we were at a party someone said to him “you have no idea what’s it like to be this big. It’s not a choice” he corrected her and she left the party. I felt bad but I’m sick of people not taking responsibility for their action.

I had a weight councilor from Australia blow a gasket when I corrected her. She had a video were she asserted that there were just as many fat people 50/60/70/80 years ago, as there are now. And that the reason there isn’t vintage clothing in larger sizes, is that it was “passed down” to many people and so the clothing wore out. Just the larger size clothing. I looked up the statistics and only 10% of Americans were overweight or obese until the 1960s. She also took issue with me saying that there weren’t obese kids when I was in school. I looked up for how many children were obese specifically when I was in school. Only 5% of American children were overweight or obese when I was K-12. There actually was one girl in my elementary school who was overweight. But it was because she had some kind of problem with either her pituitary gland or thyroid disease. No one made fun of her that I ever saw. The rest of her family wasn’t overweight. The Australian with the BS ‘weight coaching therapy’ lost her mind and created a bunch of fake Instagram accounts to attempt to fight me. One of her big arguments was that all Americans were all taking amphetamine diet pills. And that’s why Americans weren’t overweight or obese. I pointed out that more Americans take prescription amphetamines now, than took them in the 1950s-1960s. And Americans continue to get even fatter. So many Americans take Adderall now, that there has been a huge shortage of it. The Australian finally took her post down when I mentioned that I had screenshots of all of the nasty things she said to me. And that Instagram would be looking into the suspicious accounts that defended her and lashed out of me.

Ive been so skinny for so long...the question occurred to me that possible theres possibly something wrong with me....cancer, thyroid issue, parasites from travelling or something impeding gaining weight. After calculating the caloric intake I need a day, then calculating the calories I eat from having 3 full home cooked healthy meals + the second dinner I usually eat, plus fruit for snacks, I barely consume the calories to maintain my weight. I added the calories of 3 sodas, 3 treat snacks and a desert and it almost doubles the caloric amount from 2000 to 3500+. Id never cared about calories or my weight, but after figuring this out, its no doubt so many are so obese....the junk so many eat is so fattening it takes little effort. Ive friends that over the last decade that have grown from 200 to 300-400 lbs and just keep growing yet cannot comprehend how they keep growing and just keep shoving the ho hos and sodas down...then ask me what my secret is when they see me. The willing ignorance it takes to not get it is crazy.

Ya, I get that, but our habits and diets directly affect our metabolism, and our metabolism doesnt just speed up or slow down randomly or suddenly without a serious health condition. Im not lucky in the least! Ive put a lot of effort into learning to eat well, and what to avoid, I dont make excuses, I have discipline, and I avoid Drs and their drugs at all cost....most of which I blame on a healthy diet that doesnt make me sick and cause a need medical care. Its not calories that slow the metabolism, unless maybe its an extreme excess of calories, but its whats in the food people eat that slows down metabolisms Sugary Beverages and sodas white bread, pasta, and refined grains. alcohol consumption. high-fructose corn syrup, trans fats, veggi, canola, soybean oil. pesticide-laden fruits and vegetables. excessive coffee intake, many of the additives, preservatives, stabilizers in food, pharmaceutical and recreational drugs. All those things slow down metabolisms, so can we really blame if we have a slow or fast metabolism on "food",when theres so many direct correlations? When people say its their genetics that make them obese, couldnt it be that families have similiar eating habits, and that after generations of similar lifestyles ,habits and diets,, that those habits and choices that are repeated for generations are responsible. 100 years ago, when people werent exposed to the number on unnatural products and contaminants, and didnt have grocery stores nearby full of the things I listed earlier that slow down metabolisms, an extremely tiny number of people were overweight. Programs through the 60s kept young men in america looking like what wed see as athletic and fit. Just in the last 25 years, obesity rates have skyrocketed to where 3/4 of americans are overweight and 1/3 obese. Does it not seem as though its all about choices and contamination rather than genetics and an unmolested and destroyed metabolism? @@BodyByBenSLC

I eat likely less than my metabolism calls for, but I drink a shitload of beer, hence me going from about 140 about 8 years ago to an easy 200 now (I'm 6 foot 2). Grief is a bitch, but I did it all to myself.

I’m fat, it’s definitely down to me and my habits. And the second you accept that you’re in denial, is the second you can start building better habits and getting better. Plus instead of blaming society and capitalism (which the food desert thing isn’t wrong, but it *is* another excuse), why not look at childhood trauma and working that out with a therapist instead of hopping on tiktak Also Asian ladies are savage, they’re looking out for us lolol

I lost 100 LBs by fasting for a year. I didn’t actually do a normal fast and wasn’t even trying really. Just eat whatever you want once a day around like 5-6pm and keep it under 2000 calories. If I ever got to the point I couldn’t sleep because I was starving, I just ate a single handful of trail mix. That’s how I did it

I refuse to go on tik tok as YT is the closest to social media thing my old ass uses. That said this person seemed to be answering whether obesity is an epidemic. I'd like to see how the question is answered when, phrased as, "let's assume you're right but for yourself would you change anything and do you feel you have agency?" (It took a lot to make the above polite. I really am thinking, "is any of this your fault?")

I’ve repeatedly moved around in circles between chubby, skinny, or somewhat fit my whole life and it has never once occurred to me that what I look like is anything but my own responsibility. Blows my mind that some people think otherwise. I also want to move out of the US because dating here sucks when over 50% of the women are overweight so the odds aren’t great.

@@forthexp8649 The comment was sarcastic. Christina got it wrong. "A centripetal force (from Latin centrum, "center" and petere, "to seek") is a force that makes a body follow a curved path. The direction of the centripetal force is always orthogonal to the motion of the body and towards the fixed point of the instantaneous center of curvature of the path. Isaac Newton described it as "a force by which bodies are drawn or impelled, or in any way tend, towards a point as to a centre". In Newtonian mechanics, gravity provides the centripetal force causing astronomical orbits." Can *your* device access Wikipedia?
