You have to think how spread out the Jedi were across the galaxy. If there were 10,000 of them and 100 survived. They still killed 99% of all Jedi across the galaxy. Certain ones escaping like Kanan or Cal Kestis make sense
@anthonygarcia8749

100 surviving is still too high considering this was a very widespread purge and being 10 years in Vader, the inquisitors, and the Empire at large would've wittled that number down further.

@@anthonygarcia8749 we don’t know how many are left at this point outside of Kenobi, Kanan, Vos, Cal, yoda, and Ashoka. Not all Jedi were in active battles during order 66 either. The temple had a beacon calling all surviving Jedi home (so palpatine could kill the stragglers) but Obi Wan switched it to warn them to stay away. Probably saving lots of Jedi. Funny enough Kanan actually gave Kenobi the idea

If only people had the patience to let a story playout before utterly bitching and complaining they'd be happier. Almost every question was answered in this one episode. The cuts between the flashbacks and current time were done perfectly. Deborah is showing how Vader can be such a badass (knowing exactly who Reva was and her intentions the whole time), but also still has his padawan and young Jedi flaws in him (too focused on winning and getting tunnel vision and not thinking big picture) and is still susceptible to making mistakes. The parallels to Anakin and Obi Wan in the flashback to Vader vs Reva currently were done perfectly. Like many of us rational fans said, there was no way they killed off the Grand Inquisitor. I respect Reva more after getting some backstory, glad she's on her own side and out for revenge. Can't wait for Part 6

Despite the fact that a big part of this show so far wasn’t really good, it’s really funny how they managed to trick all of us. People were arguing how Disney could kill the GI, why Reva is so overly aggressive and why Vader let’s her be so. In my opinion Reva was shouting and act aggressively to play a certain role as evil as possible from her perspective. She wanted the attention of Vader to get near him in her plan of revenge. Vader saw all of that coming and played along in his favor. This all is actually suiting Star Wars story telling and we thought it is bad. This shows once more that criticizing a story only makes sense if you watch the whole story first. However, great reaction!

Leia's entire planet was also recently blown up when they rescue her in episode four, so her reaction to Luke being sad has always been a bit weird. Personally I think her years of experience as a diplomat has helped her remain stoic and able to compartmentalize her emotions. Also as a rebel she's probably lost other people who were close to her. Conversely this is as far as we know Luke's first "big adventure" and so he doesn't have the experience to know how to deal with it (his reaction to Owen and Beru's death is also odd, considering they raised him from birth and were his actual parents). Her empathy for him is really touching either way.

@Hybrid980
@Hybrid980 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah thinking back on it, it is weird. I get it's a movie so there's only so much time we can explore the emotions of characters, but something acknowledging that pain of losing her home world would have been nice. I have a hard time believing even a leader being that stoic in the face of their family, friends, and the place they grew up in being destroyed within seconds. Everyone, no matter how strong, has a breaking point, so the old school way of portraying fictional heroes as above being human and facing emotional perils has really lost it's luster with me, and at times even annoys me. I do find myself enjoying much more grounded characters, not in ability, but in emotion and mentality, Luke was a far more grounded character for me than Leia was, Anakin too. To be fair though, there were times when Leia was far more emotional than she was even witnessing the destruction of her planet, so perhaps it was easier for her to compartmentalize the destruction of Alderaan given that she didn't have to see with her own eyes the horror on her people's faces before they were blown to bits, like she was more disconnected from it emotionally because she wasn't actually on the ground seeing it first hand.

Leia is a capable fighter and has likely seen combat, so not so easily rattled, but also has her own predicament to get out of.. needing to get the DS plans to the rebellion.. she needs to keep her shit together to strike a blow for Alderaan. Luke hardly knew Ben and barely shed a tear for Owen and Beru. He’s perhaps more confusing.

This is by far my favorite episode of the Obiwan Series. It shows the enemy's faults in strategy are not lazy attacks but rather Anakin's rashness peeking through vader's suit or his own inquisitors undermining him, like how the third sister left obiwan basically "unguarded" behind the door in order to buy time for him. That and it is the first time we see Vader using dual sabers, where it is implied after his defeat on mustafar he learned not only more form 5 but all 7 forms of lightsaber combat, and this is him flexing his knowledge and mastery over a literal youngling. Brutal and amazing, say what you want about the series in whole but this single episode is amazing

I disagree about Reva feeling out of place with the Obi-Wan plotline, tho. Let me explain... I always wondered why the younglings that had survived Order 66 had done absolutely nothing to make things right. So Reva fills that pothole perfectly. And it makes total sense why she had a hate boner for Obi-Wan. Because it was his Padawan who had murdered her friends and former masters. So we finally witness a youngling trying to make things right. We had never seen that before. And we always expected the protagonists to do everything. What happened in this series seems more realistic.

As someone else pointed out, it's implied in Revenge of The Sith that other Jedi did survive, Yoda and Obi-Wan were confident enough in this to go back to the temple to alter the code that would have lured surviving Jedi back to the temple. Order 66 was a success the Jedi were utterly decimated and no longer existed as an official order, the few out of the many that died hiding from the Empire's power and might. It diminishes nothing, the order does precisely what Palpatine wanted, the Jedi as a political and religious force destroyed.

The thing i love about this show is that is really tries to emphasize to people not who but what Vader really is at this point. He's not just some villain or kind of bad guy. He is a monster. A truly evil being at this point. The things Anakin has done and will do in the future are abhorrent. The show does a nice job of saying yeah Vader is cool and powerful and all, but he is not to be rooted for. The Anakin we all loved from the prequels and Clone Wars is no longer present at this moment.

There was around 10,000 Jedi at the time of order 66. And they were spread out due to the war. Even at a large scale of 1,000 getting away (which it may have been less) it would still be a success of wiping out the order and diminishing their reputation and seat in power.

It must have been frustrating as a creator of this show to watch the fan reactions week by week. The hate for Reva, the frustration with Kenobi's trauma, the complaints about the lightsaber combat, the grand inquisitors "death" and people accusing them of retconning and not understanding canon. It goes to show that we as a fanbase need to calm down. I know we've been stung before, but let's at least wait for a show to conclude before judging the overall product! I know I'm not in the majority, but I've really loved this show so far and part 5 has easily been the best so far I can't wait for 6! Man seeing Obi-Wan and Anakin smile at each other during the prequel scenes breaks my heart. Happy with where they took Reva's character at least now it all makes sense. How it all ended is totally the way of the Sith. In the end, you get double-crossed.

I think it's so poetic that Hayden not only plays/fights as Anakin but also as Vader, they have such a different way to fight. And they really nailed Vader's movements, not flashy, nothing elaborate, just the right perfect movement for every occasion filled with hate and raw power.

superb episode - absolutely superb - and your reaction video for this episode is the best I have watched among other Ep 5 reactions - for what it's worth, I have a personal theory that there's more to a love for Star Wars than just loving good stories and good storytelling - I do not think it beyond the realm of possibility that our own powers as human beings have not yet been fully developed - and if that's the case, then perhaps we understand at the deeper levels of our own collective consciousness that we , too, may be just as powerful as Jedi

Why are you complaining that we get more information from the new characters like at 14:06? it is through these interactions with others Obi-Wan will get his character development, Her shared experience informs Kenobi that the fight has to continue, and this will motivate him to once again take up his training.

Reva is not a Jedi but a youngling, not even a Padawan yet but one raging with potential to become a Jedi knight with the right Master. The fact that Vader let her live might be a sign of regret at what he did at the Jedi Temple 10 years ago or it might be a reversal of Sith policy with regards to younglings because the Empire eventually absorbed many force-sensitive individuals into the new Galactic order and converted them to the dark side. A Jedi youngling succumbing to her emotions would be a prime Sith candidate and Vader knows this better than anyone else. There is no way the Grand Inquisitor would have let her live after she stabbed and left him for dead, if not ordered to do so by Vader.

Yes, Obi-Wan Kenobi just brought you a scene of a youngling being killed by "Lord Vader" while he still looked like "Anakin Skywalker". "I thought he was there to save us..." (Anakin Killing Younglings Ver. 1.01)

Obi-Wan knew exactly how and when he was going to die.. Leia probably knew too and she had a war to fight, losing everyone and breaking down after each loss, well it wouldn’t go great.

Great reaction, and great point about the what if all episodes were like this. If they had counterpart flashbacks in each episode to help fill out Obi-Wan and Vader, it truly would be epic. It could replace the show's use of other characters and events to fill this out; however, I like most all of the other characters, so I'd personally prefer both. I'm hoping in the very least the end of the finale includes some kind of tantalizing cliffhanger -- like he contacts Yoda, or he starts to hear from Qui-gon, or something. Heck, any tease of another season or show would be thrilling.

Order 66 wasn't unsuccessful at all though. It successful purged a large majority of the Jedi and dismantled their entire establishment. It's more unrealistic for every single Jedi to have been caught and killed. None of them could have stopped the Empire anyway, Luke was the only chance at that.

I personally love the show. There were some slow episodes but they also gave us what we wanted and for me the continuity is solid. Not perfect but it’s good enough for me to enjoy it. I’m glad people are happy with this episode but I think once the series ends and has time to marinate people will come to appreciate it much more. It’s currently getting the prequel treatment haha And yes. General grievous would definitely love that box

21:46 This was such an Anakin moment. OT Vader would have ended it, this is why I love this depiction of Vader as the halfway point between ROTS Anakin and OT Vader. That stance to, all I could see was Anakin's darker side rather than Vader.

Vader was, is and always will be the face of Star Wars. Rogue One and this series showed how brutal and powerful he is. Reva's story is getting more and more interesting. I feared they would copy-paste Trilla's story but damn... didn't expect this "twist" and Moses is so good! Last but not least, McGregor is doing a great job too. You can see Kenobi's character development throughout this series.

My prediction is that they’re going to find a way to wipe Leia’s memory so that she forgets all the adventures they had. Which would make sense as to why she never mentions it in episode 4 and why she’s not upset by his death.

The Sith use their lightsabers to mock the Jedi, actually they prefer to use the Force and dominate their archenemies like that. So it makes 100% sense that Vader wouldn’t use his, he really doesn’t need it, it’s not his true weapon. His true weapon is the Force and he’s the most powerful user in the galaxy, as we all know. So the encounter with Reva really makes perfect sense, he’s so above her that he mocks her. He’s above everybody lol well except for his children I guess

Leia was a battle hardened rebel by this time, while Luke was not. It seems likely that she would have faced lots of death even before the Death Star. It makes perfect sense that she’d be capable of rallying the troops in the face of tragedy. They weren’t out of the woods by that point and she knew it.

I really like the Reva story development, and I think this is where the Kenobi content being a series hurt it, because we all had to wait weeks to see its progression. I think a movie would have really condensed this into the best parts, like the flashbacks and scenes focused on Kenobi, Vader, and the inquisitors.

What an amazing thing that is, to feel that kind of enjoyment that brings a deep smile to your face when those scenes of Anakin and Obiwan training from the clone wars era, seeing their bond and just how things were in that time frame, the clone wars animation really helps bring Anakin into the light as well with the insane back story we did not get to see on the big screen, such a treasure. I'm re-watching Clone Wars and still on the first season, amazing to see Anakin's full story by George but it would have been so amazing if Hayden was able to play more parts from that Era moving forward. It just makes you long for when times were different and it was Anakin & Obiwan, I much prefer the clone wars era because of those 2. Very cool that Hayden has received all the love he never got back then just because the generation that grew up watching him never really had social media, none of that really existed back then.
