One shouldnt focus on how highly others think of him- he needs to know exactly what his worth is. This separates powerful and strong men from the flock. Weak people are in competition with others trying to prove themselves- powerful men are in competition with themselves and every win against yourself makes you advance one level above.

Exactly. He wasn't trying to win, Anakin was treating it like an actual fight and failed to learn the lesson.

Not really, at this point in time they were about equal in ability. In fact in their final duel, Anakin had already surpassed Obi-Wan, but Obi-Wan was the worst opponent possible for Anakin because of his patience and smarts. Any other master except for Yoda and Windu would be defeated by Anakin.

"You are a great Warrior Anakin" - Obi Wan "Wars not make one great" - Yoda I feel like the lines are so distant from the source.
@hobomike693510 ай бұрын
Yes, you are correct; this *is* something very distant from what a Jedi should say. That was a statement made by an Obi Wan blinded by pride in his student, an emotion the Dark Side is always seeking to take advantage of. When Yoda tells Luke that _”wars not make one great,”_ he speaks through personal experience; he survived the clone wars, Order 66, and the atrocities the Empire committed. It’s a lesson that he personally learned from a lifetime of being at war with the Dark Side. This clip takes place *during the clone wars,* when Jedi were becoming disillusioned with their order’s purpose and began to see themselves as warriors and fighters, rather than a peaceful monkhood. Yoda and Mace Windu expressed concern that the Jedi were losing their way with the good side of the force before the clone wars broke out; Mace Windu explicitly tells Palpatine *”we’re keepers of the peace- not soldiers.”* Yoda’s apprentice quit the Jedi order when he became discouraged that the Jedi knights were not doing enough to maintain peace in the galaxy, and Qui Gon was repeatedly chastised by the council for being “a maverick” and following what they perceived as his instincts, (actually the Living Force) rather than the high council’s instructions. Yoda would later take all of these lessons to heart during his isolation in the swamps of Dagobah, and during his training of Luke Skywalker.

I loved the lesson Obi Wan tried to install in Anakin, that the Jedi didn’t aim to win but instead to negotiate for peace, and that anakins fighting style showed how aggressive he was to his opponent, even though as a Jedi it’s not exactly the aim to be fighting . It amazes me how we didn’t see Anakin turn. Of course this scene wasn’t in Attack of the clones but you see it so clearly in this scene his initial fall to the dark side. When we slaughtered the sand people like animals in ep. 2 we felt saddened as he did something against the Jedi code. But we were happy that he was happy with Padme even his he didn’t like sand. There’s a deleted scene where Obi wan talks to padme where he knew Akakin was in love her but he kept silent because his “brother” was finally happy. In some ways Obi Wan allowed Ani to fall to the dark side but how could you tell your brother not to be happy? Truly a conflicting thing. I haven’t seen episodes 1-9 in chronological order but I’d like to. Episodes 1 and 2 are a bit difficult to get through as they are a little slow but fantastic movies nonetheless!

Wouldn't the characters (not the real life actors) want to use "non-energy" swords for Jedi Training duels, to ensure that no one gets killed? You know, something like what real life athletes use in the sport of Fencing. If a mistake happens with a Lightsaber, you've got either a dead Padawan, a dead Jedi, or both. To quote Obi Wan: "Oh, NOT GOOD!"

@SithknightofRen2 жыл бұрын
the power of a saber can be turned up or down to match the user’s purpose - decreased for training and increased for more intense battles. Placed in training mode - the blades are not deadly but deliver a shock to those hit by them instead. This allows the Jedi in training the chance to wield a proper weapon without the risk of damaging themselves or their Master.

This was the redemption of Christensen. He had years to let Revenge and especially Attack of the Groans play on his mind, but then he came back for Kenobi a truly changed man. I always knew Hayden was a good actor, I saw Shattered Glass, but then we saw what he can do with Anakin as long as he had a good script. Although if it were up to me I wouldn’t have gone with Obi Wan apologising during the final confrontation. I would’ve led with “I killed you once Anakin, happy to do it again.”
@av799 Жыл бұрын
I feel this is the scene that shows why Anakin being a Jedi master may never have happened even if he didn’t fall. There is no denying that Anakin was truly a powerful swordsman, and a very skilled force wielded. But he confused “Power” with Wisdom. Sure, he was a good teacher and general, but in the end his desire to win at all costs cost him everything.

@av799 Жыл бұрын
@@preciousotoakhia9789 from the looks of it: Order 66 was inevitable the moment Episode 3 started. Palpatine had every piece in place, amounted all the power. @Ikaros23 Жыл бұрын
That’s what he did. Anakin was highly traumatised when he was a youngling. And Palpatine exploited this by manipulating his inferiority complex, by makeing him belive that he was « special» and deserved to cut steps in his « mental» training. Obi wan can see his inferiority complex feeds his need for control and victory. He try’s to warn him about the danger of his need for admiration. But he is allready lost. What Anakin never learns is to control his emotions and his fear of suffering and death. All his rage and power can never give him « insight». This was also Palpatines grip over him. He never told him the truth of the force and life. Instead he manipulated him into beliveing he would share his insights and power. Instead he gave him power, but never the insight. The Truth was simple and infront of him all the time. There never was a way to control all things 100% or to stop death or suffering. The dark side could not change it, nor could the empire or the force for that matter. In the end Anakin’s narcissism consumed him
