what I like the most about obituary is that medium slow tempo that always characterized them and made them stand out in a scene where speed was a common factor in bands like cannibal corpse, morbid angel or malevolent creation. that slowness created an incomparable, dark heavy atmosphere. tampa forever.

Amazing this popped up on my feed. I think this was the tour where Cerebral Fix supported them. I wasn't at the Marquee, but I was at Eddies No8 Birmingham and the pit was the same, nuts. Those were great times and great memories. Sad to see extreme metal pits nowadays full of kids watching through a phone, seems alien to a crusty old thrasher like me.

Wow wish I could have seen Obituary back in the day, only problem I was a kid. I just saw them last August at Psycho Las Vegas they are still just as good. Only difference is the head banging from most of the band has toned way down, but thats to be expected at there age. For being 53 John Tardy is still a maniac on stage.
