T-55A with higher highs and lower lows. The gun is incredible for the BR but the reload makes you more likely to get caught out in dynamic situations (And typical Russian gun angles...). The frontal armor is better, but DM13 will still slice open your hull at 1000m from the front (And angling opens up the divots in your side-forward section). The turret armor is still very strong though. Trolly too. But most HEAT-FS will still make quick work out of it. The thing is really only a monster in downtiers where allot of stuff struggles to pen it. But at its own BR or in uptiers, it's kinda just a side-graded T-55A. Solid tank though.

Ik im not who you asked but i would recommend the T55. Personally, it served me well in grinding out the Russian tree. The additional armor and great gun performance is awesome. And you might want to also wait till a sale to buy anything.

T55AM1 is the best premium tank for the Soviet research branch, you will not find better than it.

At higher BRs for the Soviet side comes dark times when you will feel some major pain and yes 2s38 is a trap for players I don't recommend buying it if you want to use it not as an anti-aircraft gun.

If you’re looking to grind 8.7-9.3 Russia, T55AM-1 is an excellent premium. Good dart round, laser range finder, decent armor. Can be extremely effective on the battlefield. Highly recommend it.

@@divinesan7786 well the t-55AM-1 is a lil bit outdated at 8.7 plus 8.7 gets uptiered to 9.7 alot more than 8.3 getting uptiered to 9.3

@@CharlesDoesWarthunder brother, i play T-55Am-1, it is rare to get full uptier, it is not even common. And a lot of times are full downtier or downtier. and what do mean by outdated? the armor can withstand a lot of shot while at 8.3, everything looks at obj140 is a death
