Yeah, the T-44 can barely pen it with its best gun. Even with gold, it can only pen the top plate from above or, with a bit of luck the lower plate. Everything else is simply not pennable.

On console we got the Obj 268 4 to compliment the Obj 263 at Tier 10. So the Su-122-54 leads to *both* the 268 4 and the 263.

My only reference comes from being a console pleb, but I absolutely loved the 122 54. If you played it aggressively, you could circle and still shoot moderately slow tanks and other TDs. I've never had any truly outstanding games in it, but some of my best brought me 6k-7k damage games and they were part-aggro.

SU-122-54 was my favourite TD. A medium tank platform with a big gun but without a turret. Well, then Wargaming introduced proper medium tanks with fully functional turrets and big guns. So yea, SU-122-54 would be obsolete today.

Td 2 for the 260 has been my bane. In all my games where I get the 5k damage, I get maybe 0 or 1 internal module destroyed / crew killed. Then I go play some stupid tier 7 td, get maybe 1-2k damage and like 6 internal crits. I never manage to get both the damage and the 3 internal destroyed in the same match. Ever. This included a match where I did 7k in my Jagpanzer e100 where I put a good HE pen in the side of the turret on an fv4005, no crits. None. I hate when missions rely on rolling the dice perfectly.

Ohh, sadly I've never played the 122 54 and I wish I could play it someday. In wot, I'm the garbage man (collecting garbage) and I heard that tank had no gun depression and no armor. Would have been a perfect fit for me :D (Thus I only played the 263 on tier 9 but playing against the tier 10 always felt fair, had a garbage lowerplate, but if it ever facehugged you, you better had at least 300 mm pen to go through it's gunmantlet.)

It had a very decent upper front. Today with the shifted meta it would be a butter armour. It was mobile, fast and a true medium tank killer. You would just join medium tanks, push with them and deal with enemy mediums. It was situational, the gun depression was bad, but to be fair, maps were flatter back then. Nowadays as it the tank was, it would suck arse imo.

The 122-54 had a weird little quirk that it's lower plate was 80mm angled back at about 75 degrees i.e. auto bounce for anyone level with you shooting at the front. I learnt this by trying to out flank a group on the old Karkov map only to come face to gun with a Jpz E100. It was a pretty uncommon tank even then so I guess he didn't know how armoured it was (It was covered in angles) and decided to go for what was a safe shot on almost every tank except the 122-54 the lower plate. Long story short the 170mm shell bounced and instead of being suddenly dead I was able shoot it twice and run off. (The 122-54 had like a 6-7 second reload with 440 alpha)

Just imagine the Wz-120-1G FT without the good frontal armor, less gun depression but better gun handling instead. And put it at T9.... it seriously was not a very good tank. Sure, it had an amazing gun with sky high DPM on a quite mobile chassis, but since it was neither felxible nor well armored it was extremly difficult to actually make use of that. It was therefor very one dimensional. You had to snipe for the first 2/3 of the match and could later use your HP and DPM to yolo isolated tanks in order to kill them befor they kill you. There is not realy a tank in the game like it right now. Maybe the T6/T7 chinese TD's, but they actually have great alpha damage for their tier, unlike the SU-122-54 had, and the pure snipy playstyle is much more effective at lower tiers instead of T9.... Oh, and btw: Basically ever tank can overmatch the engine deck of the 263^^ It only has 30mm, so as long as you pack a caliber of more than 90mm you can just aim down at the engine deck and overmatch it when it facehugs you^^

The gold rounds are not that great considering the standard AP has 275 (gold are 300 mm of pen), so the typical 340 HEAT would make this thing a monster. It rams like a truck but it also hits hard. It's not a sniper, so don't expect to hit many targets at 400+ meters distance. I hope the buff comes soon because sometimes it feels a bit clunky.

I think the Obj.263 is even better than the Obj.268V4, because it doesn't have a cupolar. Yes the lower plate is a much bigger weakpoint, but for me personally it is easier hiding the hull, than hiding the cupola.

Hey QB that's not entirely true! I loved the SU-122-54 and I am crying its loss untill this very day. It was such a fast and mobile TD it didnt fit the tech tree, but they shouldnt have removed it entirely! It was also one of the very few high-tier TDs that actually existed irl! Bring back the SU-122-54 as a reward tank!

263 is a tier 10 on console, it’s great for the role it fills. Our 268 v4 is slow and bad, so it’s not that popular. The E4 and 268v5 are the best td’s on console. Broken armor, e4 cupola is unpennable hull down by kranvagns and is7. Both have 850 alpha. I hate them

The history is not that: they buffed the vehicles armor and nerfed the gun to lower it to tier IX. But, what they did... put in its place at tier X a fucking op vehicle like Obj 268 V 4. While this we have German tech tree with completly underpowered and underperforming vehicles.

Hy there! Im a fellow 263 driver (3 gm 97.5% at best to get you some reference 600+ total battles, 2700 avr. Wn8) This guys was ridiculously lucky.. did nothing extraordinary. This gun is extremely pointy for me as well. (Dont know why, but its suprisingly good!) So this kinds of snapshoots are not that unusual. He was in the good place, in good time. If the enemy were a little bit more competent, he could be very dead, when the enemy meds appeared. They literally shooted HE, killed an afk guy... so, its just a huge fucking mountain amount of luck, nothing else.

I doubt he didint get the mission. From my experience, crits counter is broken. I usually had more crits than the counter was showing and often a got mission done even if counter in battle was showing not enough crits. Post game stats show 7 crits, but these could be tracks.

Serious question, after you have a string of good games, where you're winning a bunch of them and you yourself are doing pretty good, like usually top of the team for damage dealt or xp earned, will the game give you bad mm and bad rng? I am currently trying to just make a bunch of money so im playing churchull III rn cuz it makes a ton of money, yesterday i was doing amazing, doing about 1k damage a game if not more. then today no matter what i do i could not get one decent game. Most were losses, but i mean I my self could not seem to be able to do all that well, average damage was about 600 over 10 games. What is up with this? Genuinely wondering if WG sabotages players who are doing well.
