Heads up: This is one of those tutorials that WILL give you the end result because the technique works, but it's also one that makes it hard to follow, so to pull this effect off you must pay very close attention to every detail of what he does in order to get it to work for you.

Yep, and you have to closely watch a lot of unnecessary cursor movements and color decisions.

Pretty useful video but there're some questions. Can you please explain what happens with circle keyframes starting from 3:18? Are you copying them, is there some shorcut used? Really need some clarification here. Thanks.

It looks like he's copying the original group and pasting them to repeat.

@@spearcy Super frustrating to not be able to see whats happening here.
@spearcy2 жыл бұрын
@@JonBeech Yep, the cursor often moves around kind of erratically in the vid,, but on this one that Sasha was asking about, at 3:14 he highlights all 5 keyframes, then moves to the last one, and then suddenly at 3:20 5 new keyframes appeared (counting that endpoint), so it sure looked like a copy and paste to me. 😉
@JonBeech2 жыл бұрын
@@spearcy Its a shame that you cant add a keyframe in the middle of a motion path which i kind of thought he was doing until I paid attention. (the motion moves around twice) A feature like adding a keyframe somewhere within a path would be so useful and wonder if there is a plugin for that. I am creating something similar to the video although a bounce in the position would be desirable.
@spearcy2 жыл бұрын
@@JonBeech What happens if you copy a keyframe from another place where it has that bounce position. then paste it where you actually want it on the motion path?

Summary: So basically, copy a shape's path and copy/ paste into another objects position. Also, he added trim paths to the shape to have a transition that follows the line.
@ArunGopidas4 жыл бұрын
Do you have any idea how we can animate an object along a shape created in illustrator? Eg. a spiral? I am converting it into a vector shape, but I am unable to get that "Convert to Bezier Path" option.
@OwningLuukjuh4 жыл бұрын
@@ArunGopidas Sorry I respond a little late, I only just saw this message. You can try something like this: Give your spiral a trim path. If the video made it unclear how: The Transform map has Reset in blue text. A little more to the right of that, the Content map has Add: (>). Click on the (>), you should be able to give your spiral a trim path. Adjust the trim path's start and end options until they are to your liking. Then go to the spiral layer. Click Content > Spiral (most likely called Shape 1) > Path 1 > Path. Simply click on the word path and copy it, this selects the layer as a whole. Now go to the object you want to have follow the spiral. Drop down to Transform > Position and paste the path of the spiral in here. Optional: If it is misaligned and the shapes jump to somewhere else on the screen, it means the anchor points were not centered. You can easily fix this by creating a new shape, let it be the parent of the spiral and object, drag it to where you want the spiral and object to be, and then delete the new shape. If you've done this correctly, you now have an object that folows the shape of your spiral. I hope this was a clear explanation. If you're still stuck with this (after 2 days, I hope you've done it by now :p), you can respond to this again, and we might be able to get in a skype/ discord call to fix your issue.

What a great tutorial. For those who ask commenting the video, you just need to pay close attention to the details and you'll end up having the same result :)

It's not an excuse. It is an unclear video. Even if you left out the absence of commentary it's way too fast, resolution makes it downright painful to see the interface and some actions made with hotkeys without noting what those hotkeys are. So, no, close attention won't cut it )

It may be obvious to you that you have clicked something but for us viewers it's not. (Did you click something in Motion v2?) If you want people to support you through patreon then at least put out a professional video and not something you knocked off in 5 minutes.
