Join Historian and Curator of Mechanical Arts Tom Kelleher as he discusses Old Sturbridge Village’s collection of materials made by the “Cutler to the People,” Henry Harrington. Harrington began manufacturing razors, knives, and surgical tools in Southbridge, MA, in 1818. Our collection includes many of these tools, as well as a few of his creative firearms. After Harrington’s death in 1876, his son Dexter took over the company, and it eventually became Dexter-Russell, Inc., the largest manufacturer of professional cutlery in the United States.
