I totally agree with you on the whole "breakdown" thing. Don't get me wrong; a great breakdown is fuckin' awesome, but the totality of the song is so much more important in the end. And with this masterpiece they really showed us that they can be more than a "reaction channel band" (No offence, I'm here for the great content!!) and give us the best, modern music to date. Same with Slaughter To Prevail's Kostolom. Yeah, Demolisher's breakdown and Terrible's voice are easy to sell for reactions, but my fuckin' gawd how completely perfect the album is as a whole. They show that they have so much talent and both Lorna Shore and STP really push the boundaries for modern metal and music in general. Yeah, music in general. I can't think of any genre right now that can touch the death core scene in both creativity and pure talent. It's art, no more, no less. Oh, btw; coming from the norwegian black metal scene and in the later years, the doom/sludge scene, six minutes is like an intro. Hahaha. But I can see the point with the longer songs. That's a great pro for me though, so no cons from me!
@branm253 жыл бұрын
This year has been crazy for deathcore. We got Brand of Sacrifice which was crazy and full of experimentation, Slaughter to Prevail which is super fun and moshy, and Lorna Shore doing new mixed with old school death core. I love how much Lorna Shore pulls from from old school death metal. Im not even crazy about deathcore but this year has been great for the genre.

I totally agree. Deathcore is a bit hit n' miss for me; like that genre balance right at the edge of my taste. But this year has been absolutely perfect with all the bands. It's a great year for music in general.

For me, it's kind of nice it's "just" an EP so I don't have to put it in the Album Of The Year category. It's a masterpiece, but I would hate for it to fight against Kostolom. Now they can be number one in each category! That said; more Lorna Shore is always something we want.

The fact that this song is in major keys is one thing that makes it stand out from the rest of their stuff, which is usually in minor keys. Makes it sound a bit more hopeful or triumphant, like you're riding a dragon through the sky. EDIT: I say “keys” (plural) because there are a couple key changes toward the end too 😎

The title track and Of the Abyss are really fucking close, and are also my two favorite songs of the year lol. I’d say I prefer the title track by just a bit, but both of them are fucking ridiculous. To the Hellfire is of course also incredible, but I think they really show their strengths in the other 2 tracks.
@disturbiafromthebay3 жыл бұрын
What I got from this song was the contrast of the somewhat happy sounding keyboards with the dark and hopeless lyrics. Kind of trying to give a false sense of happiness to counteract the fact that the song is about someone dying and returning to nothingness. The song feels like it’s trying to cling to a hope that isn’t there. Super awesome 🤘
