Wow. Thanks for sharing. The first one (Svetlana Efrmova, 1960) is telling a story, every step is deliberate, and telling a story (with no props or backgrounds!). It’s magic, like the music IS COMING FROM HER MOVEMENT. I can see the fairy dust (sugar) tinkling out from her tutu and from her palms. That is the intention of ballet, is it not? The musicians are off screen because they are supporting the dancers. The subsequent examples are much more awkward, movements more appropriate for the toys of Herr Drosselmeyer, but not a fairy. My sister and I were absolutely mesmerized by the fairies adding dew to flowers and spiderwebs in Fantasia. The fact that the first dancer told a story with her body almost as well as a whole team of animators with months to work on it is blowing my mind. The dance of the sugar plum fairy has never been this good in a production I’ve seen. It needs the slower, deliberate creeping movements.
