I didn't hear an echo while recording in OBS through Skype but OMG, there is such a bad echo in the video. I will go through these steps and test it out for future videos but any suggestions for the one already done?

This is very helpful! I am using my iPhone as a second camera running EpocCam for Zoom calls - and can’t get rid of the echo. When I use OBS without the iPhone the echo is gone, so I assume the extra sound is from the phone mic. EpocCam won’t let me disable the mic only, it doesn’t run unless both mic and camera are available. Is there some other way to turn off the phone mic, or is there a better app to use on the phone that will allow video only? Thanks!

Hi Michael, thanks for the video. Problem we have with OBS is that sometimes, our guests have a lag with sound and video. They connect via Wifi to Skype and sometimes, during the call, the sound and video are okay but some other time there is a lag with some of them... so it's not something we can set up beforehand in OBS. Is there a solution for this? We are thinking this is because of Skype but we don't know any other tool to use in OBS to connect camera with few people like Skype because with NDI in Skype we can set up the screen in different ways. Hi. Just bought a Rodecaster Pro ii. I am using a PodMic with it to record my KZbin videos via OBS' record function. I also use an ATEM Mini to switch cameras. I recorded 3 different videos yesterday and started to edit this morning. Unfortunately, the audio of my videos cut out for a second or two over and over throughout all of the recordings. I have never had this happen before. Before introducing the Rocecaster and PodMic to my workflow, it was only the ATEM and my mirrorless cameras (audio coming from a shotgun mic plugged directly into my "A" camera) working with OBS. I never had a issue with my audio cutting in and out with the simpler set up. Any ideas why my OBS recordings are suddenly unusable? I will take any suggestions. Please, help!

Can you have individual NDI Skype AUDIO channels per person on PC? When I bring in two different NDI video sources, Skype combines the entire call to one audio source. If not is there a workaround on Zoom or any other conferencing apps? Thanks for the great content!

HI Mike. Listening to your videos. I have a Blue Yeti microphone and I'm using a set of headphones plugged into the 3.5 mm port on the microphone. When I speak I can hear my voice through the head phones but when I preview my scenes that have audio in them I can't hear them through my headphones ? Thanks for your help.

Hey Michael 2nd time asking a question. Hopefully this one gets answered. So I’m doing a Skype call and and want to play music but using a dj software program. My guest can see and hear everything nicely EXCEPT the music from the dj software which the live stream is picking up. The live stream picks up everything but the guest do not hear the music being playing even though it’s louder than I am. Thoughts?

Hello. thank you for this video. Question: I use OBS for live streaming at my church. when the preacher begins to speak and gets a little loud, I get distortion. No matter what I do to fix this problem, I still get distortion. I made sure all sample rates are equal. I've adjusted the input gain of the microphone and added a "limiter" filter to keep the preacher from "peaking" and I still get a distorted audio. the "Mic/aux" show that the preacher stays at around -15db (in the yellow area of the meter) and never hits the "red", however the audio still sounds distorted. what can i do to fix this problem. I get click and pops too.

Is it going through a sound board? It sounds to me like the microphone, a cable, or a mixer issue. Especially if it clicking and popping. There is some sort of connection issue or bad microphone.

I have an audio-video sync problem with OBS, but not the "delay" of one of them: it looks like they are at different speeds - sometimes they are synced, sometimes the video ahead and sometimes the audio ahead, all in the same video! I could not managed to find a pattern. When adjusting the offset, whether of the video, audio, or both, it doesn't change the problem, just creates a different offset of it... Do you have any idea of how to solve this? I use a c920 camera and a cheap microphone bought on Ali Express (but sounds not bad for the few bucks I paid for it, surely better than the computer's mics). Thanks a lot!

I don't think you really addressed this at all. But Im having a problem where when I'm gaming, I'm wearing wireless headphones to listen to game audio, and my friends speaking over discord, but I have to keep one earphone off my ear so I'm able to hear myself speak, or else Its like im doing that "Speech Jamming" thing. I know there is a monitor option that will allow me to hear myself as im speaking, but its delayed where I'm speaking into myself, if you know what I mean. I've messed around with the sync offset, but cant figure out where to put it so my actual voice lines up with the audio I hear of myself in real time. Is there a fix for this or is it maybe because of latency issues due to the headset being bluetooth? Would a wired headset be better and solve this issue? I hope you can help here and possibly get back to me, Thank you in advanced, Tyson.

All that is possible. I wouldn’t mess with the audio delay stuff unless the stream audio is off. The audio you hear is direct and is not what the stream will hear. Turn off noise canceling on your headphones. That may help you hear yourself. Bluetooth may be the cause of your audio delay, but in not cases there is one when listening to monitor out so generally you want that off for your voice.

For some reason whenever I finish recording and I check the video the audio in that video sounds like a bassed inner audio and I have no clue where it came from, I don't really know how to explain it but it feels like the audio is bassed.

These fixes will work for any microphones. To remove background noise from the mic use the filters noise reduction and compressor in obs.

Hey Michael! Initially OBS is reads both the external mic and desktop audio when I play a youtube video or video games. However, when I actually select "RECORD," OBS will only record the external mic and not the desktop audio. I've downloaded Sound flower (did not work) and I SNOW U capture (did not work). I've been on it for 6 hrs and nothing. I've watched over a dozen other videos talking about audio issues but none address this issue. Can you help a brother out? Thanks !

Do you have the desktop audio mic set to a specific track that is not selected for recording audio. This is about the only thing I can think of is you have desktop audio on track 2 but you don’t have track 2 selected to record.

I use a Mac. I followed all instructions regarding NDI and it worked. However, after 2 times using OBS/NDI, each time I use it now at first it streams without sound and only after restarting my computer the streaming is with sound! :-( Any ideas what it may be?

Yes. Change your encoder to x264. The Mac encoder is not stable unfortunately.

Hi, first of all thanks for the wonderful tutorials...Im facing issue when i lives stream on Zoom...I mix music on DJ Software...but then zoom tends to take direct audio from software,,,I have M audio connected to obs with external mic...but can't get my speech through on zoom...Pls assist... Oh yes dj software is using multi output setting and zoom is using ishow u...it doesn't detect maudio card from obs....

The first issue is probably Mac. That makes everything more difficult. Ndi will take all the obs audio and you can select it in zoom. That way you don’t split anything up. You run everything to obs and run ndi from obs to zoom.

Hi Michael- I have a problem with OBs and macmini. audio interface ( scarlet) and webcam are ok, but now i wanted to add computersound with I show you audio capture. I made my multichannel mix source (i show you+ focusrite) In Obs my microfone (focusite) is comin from both interface channel and computer channel = bad sound (its doubled) Only way so far to prevent this is unable monitor on my focusrite channel in OBS. Then the mic is not goin to computersound channel and then I cant hear me on my headphones. Is there a way to avoid this problem?

Hi Michael, thanks for your video. I've got a bit of a weird problem. My audio seems to be fine. Then randomly deteriorates and becomes robotic. I'm using a Macbook Pro with an Avid 003 audio interface and ProTools First. I had the same issue with Logic X Pro, the only difference being that the issue was quicker to arise. If you have any ideas as to why this happens, please let me know!

Hi Michael (again) :) I figured out that I had to mute my output as the zoom mic was sufficient and with both an echo was created. Thanks for your clues on that. I have just done a test call with a friend on zoom, streaming from OBS. We found that I will need to watch your video about lagging. As the video I want to show my class via "media source" with an uploaded video file, gets a serious lag. While I'm watching your video about that, I thought I would ask you, Do you know why the media source file video I uploaded , has no sound coming out? That is my student can see the video but no sound can be heard from it? Only my voice. Do you have a video for that? Or a quick answer? Thanks so much.

Hello Micheal, I purchased a hyper x quadcast mic and for some reason it will disconnect from OBS after few seconds. I've spent three days playing with drivers and messing with OBS audio and bitrate settings but I can't get the hyper x mic or the mic built in to my headphones to work for longer than a few seconds. Hi there. Your videos are super helpful! I had an issue with OBS where I had 2 guests as NDI sources using Skype. Whenever guest #1 would start talking, his video input would also appear in guest #2’s window as well as his own. In addition, the audio was not synced in either, each with a different lag time. Then when guest #2 would start speaking, he’d suddenly reappear in his window. Do you have any idea why that would be happening and what the fix is? Thank you!

I have a Roland Duo-Capture mk2 sound board and this is the audio output I want OBS to capture. It does recognize it in the Basic Configuration. I have already gone to advanced seetings and changed the track to "monitore and send audio". Believe me, this should be enough a month ago, but now the track remains completely mute. I can hear the sound out of the board in my head phone which is plugged in the board's line out. So I know drivers are ok. There's also no delay, everything else is perfect, only OBS's output-audio capture track is mute. Please help.

Hi Mike, I have a strange problem. I supply audio to my pc using a 3.5mm jack and when I listen on the device it is clean. However when I stream via OBS or send audio to zoom on the same pc it is muffled and choppy. I use all your tips here but still have terrible audio. Any suggestions to fix this? I

Take a look at your obs stats and make sure the machine is not struggling to render. If it’s all good maybe try a usb mic and see if you get better results. I don’t have a lot of experience with the 3.5 so that’s the best I got right now.

Hi, Michael. Thanks for the video. I'm having a particular issue regarding audio with VLC and OBS. When I use a Media Source (just choosing one audio or video file), the beginning audio is fine. But when I use VLC Media Source, I get a stutter/skip at the very beginning of the audio track. It's like an audio hiccup if you will. The rest of the audio plays fine, it's just right off the top where the audio glitches. Any idea? I've gone through VLC settings and OBS settings and can't seem to find the solution. Great content...Thanks for this... we use OBS to stream church service and the audio volume seems to go in and out.... might capture the singer but back up sounds muffled or instruments don't come out in the audio especially with the OBS recording

Hi Michael! I seem to have done something in my OBS that has MUTED any VOD I produce to Twitch (no, it's not any copyright issue). My streams still seem fine, my viewers say they can hear the audio. Make sure to turn off the webcam mic in the Windows settings, even if you turn it off in OBS! IT LOOPS!

Hello! Im using a capture card to record my playstation game (no problems at all) recently when ive finished recording and im watching the video, I realized that the mic and game audio stop working for just over a second and starts working again but the video keeps going THEREFORE they're now out of sync. the longer the recording the more times this happens. PS: i do not hear the audio cutting out while im playing, only when im rewatching the recording)

Cant’ get audio through OBS. Have a Nikon d3200, Rode Go II wireless. I can see that the audio is working in the camera, but can’t get it to work in OBS. I can connect the Rode direct to OBS and it works, but really want to go through the camera for syncing and simplicity. Ideas? I’m sure I’m missing something very easy.

Does the ride have a cable to plug in to the cameras? This could also be a setting on the camera. Mine has a picture setting where I will not get any audio. But it also has a film setting where I got the audio. :-) check your settings. I don’t know Nikons.

When I plug the mic in, I can see audio meter bars bouncing in the camera, so I’m assuming that the audio is working, but when I select the CamLink (used to link the Nikon to the PC) as an audio option in OBS or Voicemeeter…nothing. Video works in all applications, though. Have also tried it through the streamyard audio input with no luck. It’s got to be a setting somewhere that’s playing hide and seek with me, and it’s winning so far!

What are you using to deliver the audio? Obs with ndi? Obs virtual cable does not carry audio.

I have a problem, I use a gaming pc to record and it does not have and internal speaker system, so i have to use a usb speaker and a usb mic to record, problem is it wont let me record both audio at the same time, how do i record so that both the desktop audio and the microphone audio can be picked up at the same time, and not one at a time?

Hey Mike, my issue is whilst gaming. The audio sounds equal and normal whilst playing however when I stop recording and playback the recording the only audio that is bad is my teammates, which is extremely quiet..

Because it’s capturing game and voice audio at the same time with audio output capture you don’t have a lot of control over the levels unfortunately. Maybe in the game it has control levels for teammate audio that you can adjust.

I get audio chunks that softly loop/repeat, disappear, and repeat. I have headphones, laptop webcam, built-in mic, powerful laptop with 32 gig ram. Also, using OBS with Reastream sometimes stops streaming to KZbin. Note: I have Google Fiber with 800 Mbps upload and download! What is wrong??

I use a gaming headphone with mic , when game sound silent and I talk then it has a hish noise as I talk but when the game music is on its gone , and all levels don't peak in the red on my sound bars so what can it be? , note my game sound is separate cause I do console capturing to stream my games

Thank you for your help this was helpful for some of the issues I was having with audio. My biggest issue is with using my Atem Mini Pro through OBS. I have no ability to access audio even though I see the audio on the Atem software side. I assume this is a Mac and OBS issue as I've seen different support threads explaining the same issue. Any insights you have would be greatly appreciated!

I know macs struggle to capture audio from different sources but I hadn’t heard about this being an issue for the Atem. Unfortunately I haven’t gotten my hands on one yet to test it.

I can't get my OBS on my Widows 10 laptop to capture the audio from my USB Dazzle Recorder to show up in OBS even when I select it in audio settings. I have muted my laptop mich but it keeps over ridding the Dazzle... HELP please thank you .

Hello, I'm using obs and sound flower for mac to livestream music on twitch. The problem that I'm having is that I have audio drop out while streaming... The video is great, but as I stream I don't know that the audio has dropped until I watch it later. Also, my video recordings don't save for some reason on obs. Any advice will be helpful.

In obs general settings you can click a button that will automatically record when you stream. Not sure about the audio cutting out. Not familiar with sound flower.

I'm having a issue to where when I'm Live streaming console via elagto hd60s to obs. I sometimes get distorted game audio and voice chat audio with the sound from game n voice audio cutting out.. Any suggestions?

Check you cables. If your machine isn’t having trouble encoding then it could be the cables.

I’ve been getting tinny sounding audio on all my obs captures. Sounds fine when I open the file but if I try to upload to anything it starts to sound like a robot. Any ideas?

Thanks! I also realized that I was using the Blur effect in Skype and it adds like 50% more of CPU usage from the app during my streaming session, making the sound choppy 🤦‍♂️. Regarding the NDI audio with guests, I just use my external mic and the audio output capture as audio sources, therefore, I don't have any loop or echo effects and I can use also a browser audio in the stream if I need to

@@MichaelFeyrerJr hm I see I do have two 20 ft cable going to the focusrite and cloudlifter but they are Braided after watching your video I lowers the computer mic levels down to about 80 took my output level down to about 1 on the compressor filter in obs and a few more things I did a bunch of tests Recording and I don’t hear it anymore

When I try to play a Media Source (a previous recording) it has no sound. I turn on the monitoring in the advanced settings and it plays though my monitors speakers when my headphones are my default device. I have my headphones plugged into my mics monitoring channel if that is a factor.

So, i have a weird situation. I just streamed for the first time on my obs. It started so well, my green screen, stinger transitions, video and sound were spot on. Then half way through randomly I had messages coming through saying I sounded monstrous. So I stopped the stream and listened back to the recorded file. My audio became really bassy and wobbly half way through the stream both Mic Input and Desktop Audio. Any ideas

I love your video series, I've used a ton of your stuff in setting up my own streams. Unfortunately I'm having a seemingly unresolvable audio issue. I use a Steel Series headset, I have a Razer Seiren Mini mic on an arm. In every other app (discord, teamspeak, skype, etc) the audio is perfect. The instant I launch OBS, BOOM, Echo. Like really harsh echo. I tried everything I could think of right up to deleting all my audio devices in Windows and restarting, updating my Razer and Steel Series drivers, and even wiping and reinstalling OBS. I now have an empty stock OBS. Only the default scene is installed, and the only sources in it are "Desktop Audio" and my Mic. With Monitor Off on both sources, I get no mic output to the Desktop but no monitor either... Am I doomed to not be able to monitor on my mic?

Make sure obs is closed ... Go to system preferences - then SOUND. And make sure you have multi output aggregate selected. Then open OBS . And it should work. (Only problem is you won’t be able to control the volume ) 🤷🏽‍♂️ and when you are done using obs - make sure you go back to system preferences - then SOUND , and select MacBook Air speakers . ❤️💯👌🏾 let me know how it went .

I have all the effects set to monitor and output but they still don't play through the airpods. The OBS has advanced audio set to VB cable and Zoom mic is VB cable speakers are the airpods. Not sure what else to try. Seems like it should be simple with the advanced audio but no go. I also Have a prerecorded video that plays in another scene. Same effect. Everyone in the zoom meeting hears the audio but I hear nothing regardless of the advanced audio settings.

You have to make sure your virtual cable is also routed to your headphones and the volume on that output is up. This is why I don’t use virtual cables unless it’s absolutely nessasary. I use ndi audio whenever possible. Virtual cables can be confusing and add a lot of complexity and points of failure to an already complicated process.
