Excellent video but I have a question. Do you have any suggestions on easy controls if your gaming PC and streaming PC aren't in the same room? I'm a sim racer, and my racing rig and PC are in one room, and I would like to use my "normal" gaming PC as a streaming PC, which is located in a different room.

Hey there, first off we've really used your videos to help us learn to setup our stream and very much appreciate the time and effort you've put into them. So here's our dilemma that I am hoping you may be able to help us with. My husband and I are streaming to the same Twitch channel. We use his game feed, and just push my webcam feed to his SLOBS using the NDI Scan Converter, and my voice to him using Voicemeeter Banana VBAN. Then he runs the stream from there. We are not using a dedicated streaming machine, though we have the option of using a small gaming laptop for that purpose if that's what we need to do. The problem we're having is that for some reason when he uses his in-game push to talk (Ark: Survival Evolved is the game if that matters) to speak and someone else is speaking in-game, it is pushing the OTHER person's voice back out of his feed. So that it looks like his avatar is mimicking back the other person's voice. We have double checked to make sure all webcam mics are muted/shut off, and that the Voicemeeter VAIO is the default in Windows. We've tried turning on one feed at a time/turning off one feed at a time. We've spent ours turning stuff off and on and simply cannot figure out what we're missing that is causing his opening his mic in game to push the game audio back through his feed. Any help would be hugely appreciated!!! We've spent countless hours testing and web searching and are just at a freaking loss now. Thanks!!! Alia

Kristine Burks Ark is using the default recording device for its input and somewhere in your chain your bf is pushing system sounds to the default input. As your voice etc is not being repeated also I’d look on his voicemeeter and his default recording device in windows.

Well, this is timely! I popped by your channel to report the results of part 1 of my tinkering. Both of my machines have two network ports, so I grabbed a crossover cable and directly connected the two machines. The idea at first was just to get as low latency and high quality as possible in VBAN by giving it a dedicated pipeline. That worked well for me, but then I played with NDI as well. I won't go into detail about that since you just did. :-) Regardless, for next to no money if you have the bits and bobs laying around, or about the cost of a McDonald's value meal if you buy a premade crossover cable on Amazon, you can easily do the same. The internet is full of instructions on configuring a crossover network connection for the operating system(s) you may be using. For me, my main LAN is on the 10. network, so I put my crossover connections on 192.168. There's zero switching or routing in between the boxes so latency is low and you don't have to worry about the power of your switch/router. Your stream will be going out a physically separate network so you don't have to worry about the VBAN/NDI traffic and the stream traffic fighting for space. Also, for people who may be plugging into your ISP's router and don't have the control to do things like static or reserved IPs, this makes VBAN and NDI usable since your crossover network can run static beside your ISP's settings. If you aren't blessed with two network ports on your motherboards of both computers, you can buy a gigabit expansion card for less than the cost of two value meals as well. All-in I'd say you could do it for $25 USD with new parts (less if you have cables, ends, crimpers, spare/ebay NICs.) Sure beats the cost of a capture card or replacement router!

Loved the tutorial, not limited to NDI. Thank you. But I have a question. Why not set all the overlays and mic, I mean, everything not-the-actual-game-output on the streaming PC? The audio would make sense for me if you're trying to avoid syncing problems. Is that the reason? Is there a technical reason why one shouldn't add everything else on the streaming PC and leave just the game screen/audio in the gaming PC to be sent over NDI?

I cant hear my stream so when someone subs or and alert procs I have to see it visually on my Streaming Monitor. If I plug my Astro AS50's into my streaming PC instead of my gaming PC... will there be any lag in sound coming from my game on my gaming PC or is it so undetectable there is no desync felt while you are playing? Add an NDI audio filter to the desktop capture (or whatever source you're using for your alerts) and use the NDI Studio Monitor App (from NDI.TV) on the game PC and let it output to your headset source. It uses next to no resources and can run in the background.

What TP link are you using. If using 1/100mbts, you nees to get 1gbts one. Or 1000mbts to say...

If we could actually show install, and set up before adding songs, and alerts that would be so nice. As someone who doesn't have those things, or hasn't gotten that far and is just trying to get everything set up and working...whatever.

But you gotta have a good router like that too and another PC too ha so $$$ I'll totally keep this video in mind if I ever 1 day decide to go this route.

Most routers/switches in most setups nowadays have at least gigabit ethernet ports, and if it doesn't then a standalone switch with gigabit ports is cheap, and the config can have all computers doing anything NDI related on the gigabit switch with an ethernet cable from the router to the switch giving everything connected to the switch internet access. As far the "another PC" point, any hyperthreading dual core like an i3 or quad-core CPU like a core2quad, or old laptop (as long as it has a gigabit ethernet port) is good enough for basic 720p30 streaming. It doesn't take much but man does NDI go a long way.

I use a used pc that someone brought in 2012. 4gb ram and Intel Pentium G3420 @ 3.20GHz. Still streams division 2 on 30 fps with dual. otherwise i would get 5-10 fps if i stream solo pc.
