Let's look at all the musicians Steffen has scared away and why: - Christian Muenzner: Treated him the same way Muhammed Suicmez did. - Jeroen Paul Thesseling: The first time Jeroen didn't want to tour anymore, the second time Jeroen ostensibly got tired of Steffen's drama queen behavior. - Hannes Grossmann: Was a control freak to the point where Hannes had to release an entire solo album just to get his ideas for Obscura out there at all (The Radial Covenant is literally just "Fine, I'll make my own Obscura album with blackjack and hookers!"). - Fountainhead: Got mad at him for playing fretless guitar on rhythm guitar recordings, tried to discredit his contributions to the album, actively copyright strikes Tom's videos every time he tries to upload an Obscura playthrough from Akroasis - Linus Klausenitzer, Sebastian Lanser, and Rafael Trujillo: Rafael was once asked about Steffen on an Instagram Q&A and said something to the effect of "I'm not into bad vibes." - David Diepold: Ostensibly the same reason as Jeroen - ...and now Alex Weber: Stole his bassline for an incredibly sub-par song with the worst mix Studio Fredman has ever shat out.

I met Steffen at a gig and he was rude and dismissive, acted like he didn't give a fuck about the fans. Also, if he stole the music for Evenfall it really wasn't worth it. The song is bland as hell and not remotely up to the standard of what Obscura were doing on Diluvium, for instance.

How could you lose Hannes Grossmann that composed SO MUCH for Cosmogenesisn and Omnivium? How could you lose guitar virtuoso Christian Münzner that is so obsessed with incredible solos and complex riffs? How could you lose Paul Thesseling - a masterful bass player with truly unique style and mesmerizing sound? And that wasn't enough! Steffen betrayed amazing guitarist and composer Tom Geldschläger that made so much for "Akroasis". And Steffen even managed to loose the absolutely incredible trio of musicians: Rafael Trujillo, Sebastian Lanser and Linus Klausenitzer - these guys are the reason that "Diluvium" is a pure masterpiece. What the hell? I'm sick of Steffen so much.

This is the kind of comment I was hoping to start seeing. This is not the single that kills this band for me. What killed the favourite band of my late teens/early 20's that Obscura undeniably was, is when I learnt that they hired an absolute genius of a guitarist only to let him contribute a huge portion of creative work on Akroasis and let him go without paying a dime or crediting him and letting the world know how amazing of a musician he is. Every single person involved in the project has more talent in the dirt under their fingernails than I can ever hope to have, and seeing them get screwed this badly is a nightmare fuel.

Steffen is a jerk. He was never Obscura. The musicians he played with, who came up with the albums and recorded them, they were Obscura. Steffen exploited the musicians, and whenever someone became inconvenient for him, he got rid of them. Gabe Seeber says "I'm still trying to get paid from the tour last March".... very sad!

For me, even the last album sounded terrible. The guitar is all fuzzy. Once the guitar kicks in, the bass gets lost in the mix. After Diluvium the mix has become terrible. Just compare this to cosmogenesis, this sounds like someone drove a truck over the mix.

man Obscura had one thing: being the ones that were leading Tech Death because of their hard skin and work (in my perspective). This throws a lot to the ground. I mean, you couldn't keep your word, and do your job by yourself, without stealing.

Cosmogenesis had lots of Death and Cynic riffing as well. Akroasis was mostly done by Klausenitzer and Fountainhead anyway. Muenzner also corrected a lot of Steffen's solos.

there's only one problem here - the vocals, it is not the kind you could sing along to (as strange as it may sound, but yes, I can sing along to death or cannibals in The Bleeding), so there's a lot of them which makes the track very heavy

I am not remotely an Obscura or this style of modern prog/tek death, but why did he release 2 songs that sound like really shitty melodeath, he sounds like Tomas from At the Gates with a cold.
