Oh man, Wraith really does have the presentation of Ultima doesn't it? Some real similarities in the character look and some of the equipment. Not that they have a hold on that sort of stuff, but it really does evoke that same feeling. The only one I'm certain I played of these are Xargon. I think I only played the shareware version - like many games in my youth - but maybe I got it at some point? I remember having a lot of fun and enjoying the way the effects looked when you shot enemies. As for the rest, the only one that looks a bit familiar is Wingstar, but with so many of those kinds of games out there, it could have just as easily been another one. Whatever the case, loving the work as always!

Yep, Wraith looks and plays similar to Ultima. A budget Ultima, but one nonetheless. For a single-person effort though, it's ace! Thanks! :)

Xargon - I absolutely love and is one of my favorite video game series of all time. I played through it so many times I lost count. I believe this was my 1st pc series I bought the final 2 episodes separately big boxed at a retail store. Keep up the great work with these videos!

I've seen Wraith before pretty recently, but I never played it when I was younger. I'm surprised you have Xargon as an Obscure game, I figured everyone would have known about it since it was just male Jill of the Jungle and released pretty much as a follow up to it.

oh man xargon... the free episode / demo was given away with a cover disk on a pc magazine where I live. Unfortunately it was a bad disk and I had not the chance to play this a kid. I was so, so frustrated... Of course I did play this eventually, but still this is what is brought in my mind when I see the title

I loved the idea of shareware. I mean, naturally shareware is unnecessary today when we get to see the games and learn of their gameplay from YT today, but back then, it was brilliant.

@@Napoleonic_S I agree. As a matter of fact I'm opposed to the faction that 90s were better than now. I love all games, and are capable of finding gems in every single year. And I do actually. It's just we expect so much more from our games today, that it's easier to some to compare them to the oldies and assume based on the nostalgia alone, that modern games are worse. They're not. Objectively they're better. But, it doesn't change that I love them all, old and new. :)

I don’t know Wraith either? Sounds like it has nothing to do with the wonderfully bad ‘80’s movie The Wraith? Wreckin Crew downloading now! You got my interest. Xargon ah yes, all archeologists carry frickin’ lasers you know? 😄 Looks fun though? Xplosive sounds like a decent Bomber Man clone but Bomber Man exists & (like Arkanoid & it’s clones) that kind of makes it redundant? Wrath of Earth is new to me too but it looks quite good for it’s day? I’m not a fan of mech games but I love the aesthetic. Xeno Ball looks interesting? I get the concept & it’s another I want to try out. Xatax looks a bit ‘home made’ for my tastes but I like a good R-Type clone, contradicting what I just said about Bomber Man/Arkanoid. 😄 Wingstar is another one that can get lost in the crowd of bullet hell shooters but I’d be happy to give it a go? I don’t know Xenocide but I quite like the changing gameplay? Wow! Another video where I don’t know any of the games in the list. You’re doing well finding the really obscure ones here, thank you.

Wreckin Crew is fun but give it a minute till you get used to the controls. Don't get discouraged. Xplosive is playable with others but I wouldn't recommend it all if you're gonna play it alone. Bomberman's better at single player. Xeno Ball is really fun, surprisingly fun in fact. It's different than any other puzzler I've played. You know, it gets progressively more difficult to find decent Obscure DOS games. And I really don't want a whole video of bad titles. ;) That's why these are supplemental, and there wont be as many of them as the main series episodes were. xD

I recently tried Wrath of Earth - it is utterly weird and confusing. You can't easily run it on a real machine - the damn thing does not like extended memory so much, its readme recommends to run if from a loader floppy! In 1995! Also most of my computers don't understand the weird video format of the game. The controls are designed for octopuses with no comprehension of five-fingered hands. Keyboard is _supposedly_ remappable, but I could not figure how. There is no separate strafe button, and turning is to janky to aim. To make sense of it all you have to read the manual... which is in German! I want to experience this game, but it's so damn weird!

As a completely random person on the internet, I need to ask: should we stock up on earplugs in preparation for a possible vampmaid attack? What are her weak points? And what if she finds this video and sees our plans for defeating her? :S Now, regarding the games, you keep finding not only more obscure titles, but also some interesting ones as well. But I've got a concern... are those bunnies on the track in Wreckin Crew? O.O I like arcade karting games a lot, but if the game involves bunny violence, I don't know... Xargon actually sounds familiar, though I haven't played it. And Xenocide reminds me that I keep forgetting to put windshield cleaner in my car XD

Oh yes, man after my own heart listing lovely dos games i have never known .) Wrecking crew looks like that awfull Team17 racing game on GoG (wacky wheels - sory T17 i love your games but not all of them) glad it appears to be better. Blue builders being definitively smurfs eh? so that means Gargamel won in the end? good! Not a bomberman game (or Eric and the floaters) on drenched in lovely sarcasm oh man thats nice. To be fair i never mutiplayed bomberman, and i still had a blast (a dyna blast you could say). Oh god yes wrath of earth sounds like something i need to find than! obscure doom-like game, that i have also never heard of. Also how dare you accuse me of competency, as shaggy sang in his hit song "wasn't me" (he spoke it rather than singing but still makes more sense this way). Xen o'ball sounds interesting tho looks like the devs could have used slightly better tiles for the different functions, the reason why lemmings worked so well was because it had comical floppy eared benings splattering into their gruesome deaths yet in incredible well developed interface with many jokes (i mean PAWS come on!). the ball in question seems to have just boring tiles hat are in some cases slightly difficult to guess function of at a glance. Hell yeah! a game i've played and forgotten Xatax. good. I would argue that since China forgotten how to make gunpowder no less than two times over there is precedence to humanity forgetting about an aspect of warfare, tho i do concur we do not have it in human nature to forget about warfare as a whole. I do suspect i only played demo or shareware version of it back in 90s but it was pretty and thats all i remember bessides the name which i think is rather clever. love this series.

@@VEC7ORlt The variety of bonus sections and extra levels, the extra weapons, some of which can only be purchased, the extremely tight and flawless controls. Basically, if you fail at Warblade, it's you who failed. And a callback to original Galaga, with all the waves of enemies moving at specific patterns that need to be memorised for perfect playthroughs, and bosses with mechanics to work out and then master. It's also a very risk/reward balancing type of a game. The more you risk, the more you can achieve. Both in regular levels, and it meteor storm, in which you can speed up for a ginormous bonus in points and cash if you manage to complete it at high speed. It looks like a turd, I'm aware of it, but plays like a dream! It's 2024, and it's still my most favourite 2D shoot'em up.
