Obscure Shmup Approaching! Night Raid! A HARD Arcade Retro Gaming Shmup on the PS1 Based Taito G-Net

I grew up with the PlayStation 1 under my tv stand and it's one of my favorite retro gaming platforms of all time...so I wanted to do SOME SORT of series on it. But considering it's more fun to talk about the esoteric side of retrogaming I decided to do a ten part series on arcade games that run on PSX hardware; the Capcom ZN-1 and ZN-2, the Namco System 10, Namco System 11 and Namco System 12, the Konami GQ and of course the Taito G-Net.

Up next: Night Raid from Takumi. Takumi was much better known for the Giga Wing franchise but Night Raid is no retro gaming shmup slouch! It's 13 minute of straight action packed vertical shmup that runs on the Taito G-Net arcade pcb (a mix of Capcom ZN-2 hardware with Taito extras).
It's almost a horror game as well...or at leas thats the vibes it puts out! But whatever theme it is it's a legit PS1 era shmup banger! Or if you so choose you can also play it on the Sega Saturn!
Its definitely a PS1 hidden gem / arcade hidden gem!

Ich habe lange gewartet bis hier jemand dieses gute Shmup präsentiert. Meine coppy habe ich aus Japan importieren lassen da es anders schwer zu finden ist. Spielen Sie es auf einer alten Röhre aus den 80s und hören Sie es sich über Stereo Lautsprecher an, es ist unglaublich gut.

I had never heard of this one but I like what I see. That soundtrack is awesome too. I checked and I don't have this in my MAME set on my Deck (maybe it was down as non-working in MAME and Launchbox excluded it when I exported my roms?) I will definitely check my full MAME set or get the PS1 version!

You may have not touch upon the scoring but that's the most unique part of Night Raid! I also don't know why pros don't like this game, guess it's not Mars Matrix enough.

An expensive game no matter how you choose to play it.. If you play it legit. And for some reason the PS1 version emulates without the backgrounds so Mame is the only way with out spending a mortgage payment

I have no idea what else it's on but there's an indie game that was part of the 360 indie store called Prismatic Solid that's a lot like this. I think it's on PS4 too. Maybe steam. Same vibe as this.
