The Carcharodons aren't Renegades. They FOUGHT the Mantis Warriors. The Mantis Warriors didn't exactly give permission for the raiding, that's just something the sharks do.

I'd like to think that in an alternate universe, Jay still collects centurions he just paints them as carcharodons (those siege drills are just begging for some blood for the blood god). I think this guy needs a buddy though, mayhaps a Mantis Warrior 👀 or call up a friend from his class of '86 highschool days and do Crimson Fists! ✊

I really dislike how all the primaris gear messed up the unique lore and look of many chapters. For the Carcharadons it works fine and a whole army of all kinds of marks would be neat. But for my Red Scorpions Primaris feels almost purposefully designed to ruin everything that makes them cool. Oh their vast stocks of relic wargear? No silly, magic cawl tech makes all those relics maintained over millenia be obsolete and pointless. Their unique practice of giving sergeants and veterans MK4 armour? No no, everyone wears superior MKX armour now! Their psychotic dedication to maintaining geneseed purity? Nah dont worry, everyone's geneseed is pure and incorruptible now that cawl fixed it! Wow cool, now the only distinguishing feature about my favorite chapter is that they are abnormally racist by space marine standards.

Do you not know how war games work? They need to sell you new minis. Selling minis is their business. You'll NEVER be "done" with your army and nothing will ever be fully set in stone unless you either quit collecting, or the game dies. That's how the entire product works. Literally nothing stops you from just using your old minis, btw. They're even tournament legal if you want to participate in one that cares (not every single one does), there's official GW documentation of what old models can be used as "counts-as". Sure, they don't sell old minis anymore, but that's because *nobody bought them anymore*. If enough people still bought old minis they wouldn't have stopped production. They WANT you to buy their plastic crack. Also Cawl didn't "fix" anyone's gene flaw, lol. That was an in-universe assumption that lasted right up until the first Primaris Wulfen and Red Thirst incidents, but because GW dared to make lore be revealed over more than a single blurb in a codex, people bitched and whined about something that was never a problem.

Fully agree. You still should kitbash the armor. I’ve had to recreate a lot of head canon for myself and ignore some of the primaris lore. It’s so poorly thought out as far as preserving the whole essence of 40k

I am 100% the Carcharadons are loyalist also I'm pretty sure they just arrived and absolutely smacked the Mantis Warriors in the heads, took what they wanted and left. Minotaurs. Paint the legion of marry sue doomguy spartans. They're like a 12 year old tried to design the coolest, strongest chapter that could beat anyone, and I think there's something ironically charming about that. Rabid "Coolmaxing" leading to the chapter barely seeing love from GW, they just want people to think they're cool like the other edgy chapters.

Carcharadons seem to be modeled after pacific islander culture, which would explain why their markings are reminiscent of tattoo art. Also, while you did an excellent job painting the chapter symbol, you put it on backwards. The shark should be looking forward, not backward.

They are not renegades, they operate under nomad predation fleet rules, they have two sanctioned tithes they can claim and they do now have a Homeworld/worlds, the Mantis Warriors old home planet is now theirs as a spoil of war granted to them by the imperium because of their support during the Badab War. They are very much loyal and in good standing.

Another fun fact about the Carcharodons, most of the veteran space marines are older than most other factions combined due to their prolific use of cryo sleep. Some even 3 generations from generations that served during the horus heresy

I’m a huge fan of these really unique chapter designs and i love the Minotaurs and would love to see your take on them. Also would you consider the black dragons they have such a unique design with the bone growths. Not a whole lot of salamander players out there but these guys are awesome looking and with the newer infernus squads especially for a salamander successor chapter I’d think people will start making more of them. Kinda like the flesh tearers but salamander is just really cool and grim looking.
