Dave is back road racing with his Aprilia RS660 and Kawasaki ZXR750 classic Superbike at the Gold Cup 2023.
But it's not all plain sailing as the Scarborough weather throws some water on the party.

Took the backpack, tent and the train from Basingstoke to Scarborough for my first road race event. Loved it and was fun watching you enjoy yourself in the paddock and on the circuit. Such a good track for up close viewing. See you next year. Cracking weekend.

Great video Dave, nice to see Jamie Kelman get a shout out, not sure if you have seen this sad news but unfortunately he passed away after an incident at Brands Hatch. Such a talented rider and a bloody quick lad, remember him breaking the supermono lap record at Anglesey by 6 seconds and then jumping straight onto my sidecar to passenger. Top lad, going to be missed by everyone who knew him.

They have four road racing meetings through the year at Scarborough. The one at the end of July was much worse weather than this, so you never know!

Just out of interest What would happen if you put the best road tyres on in the greasy conditions? Something like Pirelli Rosso Corsa 4.

Over the greasy bits nothing works especially well, a fast road tyre may work in places though. It'd be the equivalent of an inter, so we'd need more wheels

the race-shift schema 🤔 does this "save" so much time ? thank you for a close-up at the left boot , so many seconds till your boots-top find the gear stick ... -nonsens i ride/ rode/ ridden gear boxes out of the shop !

It's not so much about shift speed, it's more about ease of use, trying to get your foot under the pedal at lean angle is a problem, so race shift is easier
