She's gotten a lot better but I love watching her 'clean up' after someone who pulled something out to use, like a cord. They'll go gather another item to plug it in and she's already cleaning up the cord lol. They're so confused looking for it bwahaha! Her and I are so different but surprisingly get along well.

Zero sex in that house for them boys 😂😂 Their mum never got her point across before it worsened. Just sad and pathetic that men in their mid 20s lived like the homeless. While I understand the crafty granny, there comes a point. I'd rather start over with everything, getting all the craft supplies donated and recycled so that I, the human, gets to enjoy the home! I had a neighbor who washed the outside of the condo's mailboxes! He and his wife were obsessive cleaners plus she had white everything--sofa, carpets, etc. I never went past their front entryway because I was worried I'd track something onto their white carpets. He said his grown kids had messy homes and it was probably because he and his wife, their mother, were clean freaks and it made their kids rebellious. My son's friend lived with us for almost a year and didn't keep his room clean. He said his mother used to make him clean the whole tub with a toothbrush after school every day and he rebelled by not being clean. (We had to tell him he could no longer live with us.)

@@happydays1336 You can see that with messy parents as well, especially hoarders. Children become obsessed with being minimalistic so they don't have a lot to clean, and some children may even develop OCD.

I am shocked at the length of the nails on the poor dog in the house that Mikk and Andy live in !!!!! I am absolutely SURE that it is very painful for that dog's paws when he/she tries to walk on them. VERY PAINFUL, and can cause arthritis in the dog's paws, if it hasn't already. Please ..... SOMEONE take that sweet dog to a veterinarian so a vet tech can trim his nails !!! It's not expensive. Do it today ! Shame on all of them, the mother AND those boys, for letting the nails on that poor dog get that long (painful, painful for the dog), and for making that sweet dog live in such squalor. That dog deserves much better. They should start taking much better care of that dog immediately !! It's time for a nail trim. It's also time for a bath, a good brush, nutritious food, fresh water, and a check-up with a veterinarian.

It’s said that he has diagnosed OCD. He’s not “crazier” per se, he just has an actual disorder with while other clean freaks on this show don’t have one. OCD causes functional, social, and/ or work impairment like we’ve seen for him (sleeping on his floor and never having his kids over), so it’s really just evidence of the disorder that he lives with. No medication can entirely cure anyone from OCD, but exposure and CBT therapy can work towards remission and reduction of symptoms. That’s something I actually really don’t like about this show is how they tend to reaffirm a lot of obsessive thoughts the people with diagnosed OCD express. It’s literally doing the exact opposite thing therapy does to help people with OCD

These extremes make for great television. I sure enjoy watching the episodes! But the help that these people get long-term is doubtful. When a hoarder finds out that the obsessive cleaner doesn't have a job and is a stay-at-home wife, for example, it's solidifies their idea that the only way to keep a sparkling clean home is to make that the full-time job. Well my home is only as clean as the obsessive cleaners homes about 4 to 5 times per year, the other 360 days it still stays tidy enough. I work 45 hours a week. I think it could still make for good TV if we had a regular person join them halfway through the Journey and provide a balanced opinion. The home doesn't need to be as clean as a surgical Ward. There can be piles of stuff I guess but not mold and grime. Someone needs to teach them to have some balance.

I always wipe down my shopping cart with the sanitizing wipes the grocery stores here in Utah provide. The only time I didn't wipe my cart down I came down with a nasty case of the flu (this was before COVID). I talked to a woman who was cleaning her cart while I was cleaning mine and told her about getting the flu. She said the same thing had happened to her. I make sure I don't touch my face after shopping and wash my hands when I get home. My husband also keeps a bottle of hand sanitizer in the car for this purpose.

Unfortunately, the OCD cleaner Ben cannot help the hoarder, Jerry. Jerry needs at least a 6-week intensive psychotherapist like Stelios Kiosses to help her get at the root of her hoarding. Stelios has been successful helping hoarders get to the root of their loss/or trauma. Ben is wonderful in that he was able to help her organize and clean. Most likely the hoard has grown if Jerry hasn't gotten therapy which is very helpful in maintaining the hoarding issues.

OCD is a type of mental illness just like clinical depression is. It's why therapy, antidepressants and antianxiety meds can help treat it. It's also why a traumatic event can trigger hoarding. A lot of people are just plain slobs who, like the two brothers, could care less about living in a filthy home. (I'm Bipolar which is a major mental illness. I'm a clean person, but not obsessive, who hates clutter because clutter agitates me. Having a clutter free environment makes me feel calmer. Exercise is recommended for depression like you suggested. )
