Thank you for doing this video. I've been bitching about this system for weeks. Everything you said is right on. The closest thing I can get to a "positive" is the mod boxes can be traded across your account. So I've had alts crafting the 40.0 to 40.1 and sending those to my main. Even with that I'm only at 7/12 towards the feat.

Agree with the overkill on needing catalysts (I am constantly buying those). Where I have saved on things is by only buying all of the green and blue plans. Since the boxes are unattuned and Purple/Top don't drop in regular, I just bought one of each type plan (support/health/offense) for purple and top. The unattuned boxes are account bound -- so I use a couple of alts to help with transferring those when I happen to play them. I have bought none off the vendor and I am up to 7/12 for the feat -- that is without hitting the alert or duo as regularly as I should or running any elite raids (the regular raids are only run once per week). While not a perfect system, I did find it intriguing -- that said, it does need some improvement in numbers of stuff needed...

The vendor and R&D was updated so now you just need 5 of the 40.1 to make a 40.4. Where do I get 40.1 mods? The Fence vendor in FP Gotham didn’t have any plans to craft a 40.1.

I chose to ignore crafting these mods a couple of weeks after the DLC came out. The time to grind all these mods will make a player burnout and possibly quit the game. At the end of the day it’s just another DCUO scam to make you play more and spend money on inventory slots.

Here are my thoughts. 1) I hate this system too but I hate being forced to bounty farm more. 2) you can trade boxes from other toons to speed up the process. 3) I suspect they will have a bonus week before next dlc where higher lvl mods will drop in content more often.

One positive - you can farm towards craft feat if you don't have already. (There's much easier ways of doing it though). Otherwise this doesn't need to happen again.

MOD TIPS / PLAN HERE [1] Play FP content, Daily, Duo, Alert, Raids. Use main + alt toon/s to gather mods. [2] Main + Alt toons will need all plans from 40.1 - 40.2. You will only need to purchase 40.3 + 40.4 to your spec on your main. Alts will require 14 available inventory slot. [3] Upgraded mods must remain in the briefcase. Use shared bank to store and collect on main toon to upgrade past 40.3 As long as mods are in the briefcase you will be able to share back and forth. Its an opportunity to clean out your inventory and better your organisation skills. [ Create a video on this @Chill ]

I agree Obsidian. I play a lot and only have 2 out of 5 40.3 mods to make my first might mod. It takes too much to make someone simple. I have to spend 5 10 25 and 50 just for one type. They really didnt think this through.

Why the price difference in catalyst for previous dlc (9950) and latest (2000) ? Premium players need to complete the feat before next dlc comes out or wont be able to buy catalyst anymore

You can trade the crafted boxes between characters on your account. So there's that I guess. But it's ridiculous finishing 12 mod feat diminished my soul

Finished my main a couple weeks ago and it’s a grind for sure. Working on my alts now and while putting a don mod in my tank the game lagged on me and overwrote my other 40.4 😂. Dlc winding down guess I’ll be putting 40.3’s in. Been playing since 2012 and I was saying all of this the first day. No one wants to do this.

I came up with one positive about this system being in the next DLC. If it's like this again, I'll just slot whatever drops for me, sell the extras, and totally ignore the crafting system. This is a positive as it will cut that aspect of the progression system from my schedule and leave free time for other non-DCUO activities.

I still say the general idea of using lower mod drops to crafts higher ones is a good idea. But it was a big fail on the devs part to do the math and think the entire process through and how feasible it is to the average player. One simple change that would have made a huge difference is to make the mod boxes that you craft also what you get as a drop so you can always choose one and not have to buy plans for all.

When i saw the generator mods system i thought "nice, i'll be able to give the mods to my alts". After making my first MOD....so many memories....dark ones. Good things: - Plans y crafted boxes are account bound (if you use alts, it helps...a bit) - I do not disagree with the currency cost - It helps with the craft items feat Bad thing: - the fact that you have to open the box to craft a new one, is annoying - i play as might dps and troller....here you have precision, resto & health...is that what you wanted right? What may help: - Allow to craft the next tier with the unopened box (my god that was painfull) - Tradeability, it will centainly open a new market to explore. - Just drop the box and choose, sell it or make a better one. - (Loooong shot) the generator mods should be generic, and allow you to choose the active stat you want in the armory, that will help a lot if u want to play as prec & might depending on the situation, or for example a fire TANK that may benefit more from having a few active as resto and others as dom.....i could continue but i think i made my point. So far i think the idea behind is great, but it needs to be polished, this reminded when i started working on webapps and the first one it ended in the producction enviroment worked nice, but it was asking for so many unnecesary info i could automatically get....so after a 2 iterations now we have a form that takes 1 minute to complete the usage. :D Cajaritotutututu - US PC/PS

To be fair you can put the mod boxes in your shared bank and that what I have done with 40.2 boxes for my alts I give them to my main. However when you consider the source marks cost and time it takes. Yes its COMPLETELY RIDICILOUS.

There are 2 things in this system that made it less Hellish: The cache boxes are account-bound and you can choose which mod to pick. This made it easier if you have a lot of alts. But I hated this mod system for the extreme effort it took to get the smallest gain of stats temporarily. The worst thing? The WORST thing is I know they are going to cave someday and just give away these stupid gen mod feats just like they did before. I can't remember which DLC it was but it required other materials no longer in the game like Sporadium? or some nonsense.

it may be a bit cumbersome, but what if they were to add a SEPARATE crafting inventory like other MMO's that has larger/infinite inventory space that ONLY certain items go into? that would at least solve the inventory space issue for all things crafting/artifacts/augments. and it'd be like the currency tab. Because this is ridiculous as far as both time and space and currency. I get that they want more play time but making things a miserable grind like this is absurd. I think the Starro OP item plus one more step or some weird solo mission like what you do to get the base part of an OP item. It's strange, DCUO does quite a bit right, but some other stuff is made way more complicated than it should be. It's like they want to burn the player trade economy more than it already has been.

The devs are pulling this shit because players continue to play this game... if a player count was to theoretically decline at a fast rate devs what start asking players what’s wrong with their game. DC is a cash cow and if it stops milking money devs are gonna start asking players how to get their milk back , and if players are smart they’ll ask to bring back the old dc.. the days when SOE owned dc the way DC used to be... fun hard mechanics, less tedious grinds, and less friggin time capsules

Plans are account bound as are the mod boxes. Also you can sell mods not needed to vendor. Not a great system by any means.

I understand why people are pissed. There were a lot of downsides to it. At the end of the day, it's a grind, and this is supposedly a mmo... So it's kind of the point. That said, if you have only one toon, good luck to you getting all the mods before the next episode :/ I have 14 end game rooms so had all 12 mods pretty quickly, and some of the alts have at least 4 now. Also finished 4 OP backs. So it's not that bad, but literally only if you have multiple alts to help out, time to spare, and don't need source marks for anything else. I doubt they'll do this again anyway.

I am fine with how the treat the OP item leveling now, everything is on the broker as well so if you want to pay to skip and save time you can do that or you can level it naturally. There was plenty of ways they could have made this current R&D system tolerable but for whatever reason they didn't.

This was the worst decision. I still go back to do bounties in 31st, even Wonderverse. I will never revisit this Flashpoint. Even using my alts for this is too tedious and expensive, not to mention boring.

Yeah, I totally agree. This system is fucking awful! I can't even be bothered to engage in it! I've basically resigned myself to the fact that the best mods I'm gonna have in this episode is .1's. I just can't be arsed with the amount of grinding involved. Screw the feats, I can live without them. I much preferred the system in the last two DLCs = Just casually farm some bosses and I'd get them eventually. That was fine! But if you even MENTION bounty farming in the forums you get shouted down by the vocal minority who staunchly DO. NOT. WANT. BOUNTY. FARMING. EVER. AGAIN!!!! ....But, without the bounties, and without the secondary currency that came with it, we've lost good additions to the game like Elite weapon/neck/rings, farmable purple gear for lower alts, and a way to get these generator mods etc I feel like this DLC has taken so many steps backwards BECAUSE of those few people who shout the loudest. It's gone back to being so dull and repetitive that I've gone from playing nothing BUT DCUO, to playing anything ELSE! I just can't deal with the grindiness of the game right now and I'm quickly losing interest in it.

Yeah, not a fan of this dlc's mod system. Some of the changes were positive... (i.e. making the op item a bit easier to get since we could purchase everything with marks). But the mod system really turned me off of this dlc. It just made the grind THAT much more painful. Marks have become so much more "valuable" that I haven't even gotten the elite gear for my support role. I've been a fan of this game for years, but this is the first time I haven't even wanted to get online to do dailies. If you buy everything from scratch for one .4 mod it takes 120 marks, and that's not even counting the Source Marks you need for cats or the marks it took to buy the plans. Painful. I could only muster up the will power get my 4 might mods done and that was it. Cruel and Unusual Punishment is correct... .

You can get just one plan of each color for the .3 and .4 levels, and just choose that one when you open at .2 (although yeah if you want to use every single drop, you'll need em all) Still garbage.

The goal of this system is that the users spend hundreds of marks hence they spend lots of replays or keep playing every day till the next dlc to get enough marks for 4 out of 12 mods for 1 stat so ur 12/12 50 feat point never sees the day of light...🤢🤮

Even ppl who be streaming. I will agree that the generator mod system is terrible and because we don't like it watch DCUO go ahead and do that in the future. At least with bounties they give us weekends where its 2x or 3x and the marks are earned much easier/faster for the gen mods feats. Here we have no such advantage at all, that was the bounty point I was trying to make.

I don't get the system either! they should have just made us save marks and buy them instead of all this crafting and inventory space it seems like they did this to keep us busy because the new content wasn't really new and it's obviously that they don't really grind to complete feats like players do, they need to stop doing dumb things like this. The plans and mods aren't tradable, but the boxes you craft are at least account bound. You don't need every plan either. Just buy all the plans up to 40.2. After that everything will be converted to the 3 that you will be working on. This system is definitely super cumbersome, and is made even worse by an already terrible R&D system. It is also a big source mark sink. I really don't like this system, but people are done this feat just by running dailies, no replays or anything. It is literally a gimme feat for just doing your dailies

I dont mind them trying out new systems like this, and the R&D system should be getting some kind of use. I wouldnt call this a swing and a miss, more like a foul tip lol. They definitely should have revamped the R&D system as a whole before trying something like this though. And hopefully these mods last for longer than just this episode lol
