Re: On the podcast about the Barkley being too easy. I respectfully disagree: 1) Every time there are multiple finishers, Laz makes the race slightly harder. It's happened before and will happen again, doesn't mean the race should end. 2) This could be the hardest course relative to other years, but conditions were really good. The course difficulty could been correct, but we may have 5 finishers instead of 1-2 just because of the good conditions. 3) All of the last 5 left alone for the last lap. To get 2 people going together requires 3 people to leave at the same time, which didn't happen. 4) Even if the course was just 1% longer/tougher, only 2 people would have finished, and the narrative would be completely different. If 1-2% is the difference between 1 and 5 finishers, it's hard to make the course the right difficulty, especially when there are unknowns like weather. 5) Part of the "fun" of Barkley is the community, and helping each other is part of it. It still remains an incredible test of individual fortitude. 6) I seem to remember you saying that Barkley wasn't interesting anymore because it was too hard and no one was finishing. I believe you said it's easy to make a race that is impossible. If the race was slightly longer there would have been zero finishers and Barkley wouldn't be interesting again.
