I have been diagnosed with moderately severe OSA and I have been prescribed both a CPAP and BIPAP. Here's the problem. I also have PTSD and high anxiety, and putting something on my face is a non-starter. I've been trying with the VA for years to no avail. I just rip it off my head after an hour or two. I'm going to try the mouthpiece now.

Great advice. I have been using a sleep dental appliance since 2009, for obstructive sleep apnea. It has been very successful for me. I recommend it for anyone that can't use a CPAP.

I have a CPAP, is a mandibular device actually better? 🙏

@@rimonchoudhury672 I went to a dental sleep specialist, and they're the ones that set me up with the dental appliance. More dentist are offering these types of treatment. My appliance is made by SomnoMed. You can find it on the web. Hopefully this helps you.

@@danjohnson2914 Yes I have had extremely good results from my sleep appliance. I have obstructive sleep apnea and Central sleep apnea. It really works for my obstructive type. The name of mine is SomnoDent MAS by SomnoMed. You can find it on the website of the company. Hopefully it would help you as well.

@@VickiBurgess-e4h Any issues with your jaw long-term? The CPAP sucks and I hate the masks but I'm worried about altering my jaw and dental health long term by using the MAD.

My CPAP causes me central episodes and I can’t take it anymore, I feel so bad the next day, looking for alternatives now

I used both the splint and CPAP and for me CPAP is far superior. Did the splint group in the study vary in terms of AHI? It might be that the splint is better for mild OSA.

I have mild sleep apnea. My father had a stroke possibly from it at a young age. I tried cpap multiple times and would quite after a few weeks. I just got an oral device that I will be trying however I am worried about occlusion changes long term.
