Can we talk about the sound quality of this amazing video? I feel like you can hear the crunch of every grain of sand. What a bounty of beautiful shells! Thank you!

Somehow you managed to keep my attention for 21 minutes and you didn't even say a word. It was actually kind of nice to just relax with the sounds of the ocean and learn about shells at the same time. That broken bottleneck shell was a rare one.

I think so as well. Very relaxing and educational ☺️

It was so hard not to talk for 21 minutes, Rande, that after I finished filming this video I went a stuck my head in a sand dune and screamed for a couple minutes straight, just to get it out of my system.

Join me for an EPIC shelling adventure in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. This was one of my best shelling trips ever and it includes some extremely rare finds for the Outer Banks!

Good Lord at the shells!! Looks like you got a great haul for the garden Randy! Great Video and information on the shells. I love the sound of the ocean in the background! I hope y’all are having a great week!!

Wow, so many cool finds. Thanks for identifying them for us. Glad you got to get out and enjoy that, Randy.

Thanks John. It's definitely not lost on me what a blessing it is to be able to make a solo trip like that and to have the fortune of spending time at, what for me, is one of the most beautiful places in our country. It's a totally different beauty than what you have out west, but shell hunting on a remote beach gives me some of the same feelings that I have while watching you shed hunt in the Utah wilderness.

So many shells so little talking. Just the soothing sounds of the surf. I wish I could just shut up sometimes but it’s not in my nature. Lots of cool finds down there Randy ! Sea Shells really are some of Nature’s beautiful works of art, kinda like shed antlers but way more abundant. Nice relaxing video ….. just what the Doctor ordered. 👍🍻✌️

Ohmygosh, what a haul! Never heard of keaner welks before. Those were so beautifull! And giant broken horse conch n helment, 🤯 just amazing!!
@fatherandsonsfishing2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Gayle! I rarely find helmet shells and this was the only horse conch I've ever found, so even though they were broken, they were my favorite finds!
@gaylescovel73082 жыл бұрын
@@fatherandsonsfishing , by golly you aren't the only ones to hang to broken shrlls! Other people i follow for shelling do too, especially ones they never find much or whole. I think they make great decor inside or out. 😍🥰😁

So many beautiful colourful broken shells. Had the sense you were a little frantic in your scanning of the vast quantity to look at. Shell wonderland!

Cool finds. My daughters and I have tried and tried but have had minimal luck. I was planning on going this weekend but decided not to with the storm lingering. This gives us hope, though. I enjoy watching your videos!
@fatherandsonsfishing2 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much, Justin! The storms can be a mixed bag -- on one hand they sometimes wipe the beaches clean, but on the other hand they sometimes bring all the treasures in! The trip in this video was one of my best shelling sessions ever, but I've also been to this exact same area and found nothing. I still don't mind though, at least I'm on the beach. Good luck to you and your daughters on your next trip!

Was there a storm prior to this day? Lots of amazing finds!
@fatherandsonsfishing2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! No storm. I think it was just good timing with the way the tides and currents were running. I’ve shelled this area before and came up empty handed at other times.

Awesome finds! You hit the whelk jackpot! That is remarkably far north for a horse conch shell too. I know they've been found in the Cape Lookout area, but to see proof of their existence even further north than that is great to see. Those partial helmets are also quite hard to find, what a great day you had! I am even more impressed that you were able to haul all those shells back too, they get really heavy really quickly. Good luck on your future searches!
@fatherandsonsfishing2 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! I could not believe I found a horse conch! I've never found one before but I've watched enough shelling videos that I knew what it was. This was one of those trips where I almost wanted to quit shelling because it will likely be some time before I have another session like that. But... for the same reason I go fishing again after a great session, the shelling will continue! And I had to LOL at your comment about hauling the shells! Anybody who doesn't shell (and VIDEO the shelling), won't understand how heavy they get! My hands arms were shaking from carrying the load that it was increasingly difficult to keep the camera steady.

Great video man do you know if there are any of these kinds of shells in Salvo Nc I’ll be heading down there Saturday for a week!!
@fatherandsonsfishing2 жыл бұрын
There’s definitely shells like this in Salvo. I found these near Buxton which is near Salvo and I’ve also found shells in Salvo itself. It’s just like fishing - some days are really good and some days aren’t, but I wish you luck with the fishing and the shelling.

Do you ever make a shadow box with shells?
@fatherandsonsfishing2 жыл бұрын
You got me on that one, I didn't even know what a shadow box was, but I looked it up -- Obviously then, no, I've never made a shadow box, but that does look like a great idea, particularly with some of the smaller shells. We have a whelk garden which is pretty neat and we have put some of the smaller shells into jars or clear lamp bases as decorations.

Kieners, olives, cockles, now my head’s spinning 😁 The bottle neck was not an awesome find. 🙁 The shell garden grew that day…👍
@fatherandsonsfishing2 жыл бұрын
The shell garden had a growth spurt for sure! All the head spinning from these shell names is probably how I'd feel at a farm auction.
