THIS WHOLE COMMENT IS AN EDIT TO MAKE IT MORE CLEAR BTW- So I’m not saying you can’t make your art unrealistic, not at all! If that were the case, I would also criticize Skyler for being an anthro cat who wears clothes, etc. But I didn’t. I’m also not the goddess of rules and such, and I totally understand that as an artist, you’re only limited by your imagination. But it’s good to set boundaries for yourself so the end product isn’t messy and you’re more organized. It’s the same case with species, colors, and more. You shouldn’t make your OC every color in the world, you should set boundaries. You shouldn’t make your OC a hybrid of like thousands of species, you should set boundaries. Hopefully that makes sense

Not to be rude or anything but the oc/ Child can wear their parents' clothes because they take their parents as role models and that they would want to be like them. Love your videos, but I have some criticism. You take everything a bit too literally. I've noticed this problem in a lot of your opinions, except you don't criticize everything that is illogical, so your judgment is kinda all over the place... Art isn't meant to have boundaries, it's limitless. Yes, some things aren't physically possible, but your OC existing isn't possible either. Also she could've dyed her hair, even if she was young.

A little note for the whole kids having the same clothes as their parents is that they maybe view one parent as a bit of a role model and they attempting wearing clothes similar to that parent's clothes? Then again that doesn't really happen for normal kids, but it could still be a possiblity.

Art tip the hair on your oc looks like there is a light at the top left but there are shadows all around the character which would suggest the light source is in some weird place or in a strange place, hope this helped.

I'm glad that this isn't the only thing that bothers me. When people say child, it's more of a fusion and you do take traits from your parents but you do not have one green eye and one blue eye if your mom has blue eyes and your dad has green eyes.

I am incredibly late to this but, I have a character who is the child of two other characters of mine. His name is Ash or Asher, his parents are a half demon and a Kiwet (original species). His parents are both Male, so he was made with blood and magic (crazy right). I’m not sure what he is, but I guess he’s a demon? He has a weird goat eye like his dad (Jeremy) and a cross for his other eye like his other dad (Vincent). He’s got white skin, like Jeremy, and a weird skin condition where he’s got purple patches all over, since Vincent’s skin is purple (Kiwets are w i l d). He’s got yellow eyes (vin) and a purplish brown hair colour, (Vin is entirely purple lolp). He doesn’t wear clothes similar to either of his dads, since he’s too energetic to wear something like jeres sweaters and too casual to wear something like Vins weird purple suit, (he also has a big ass bow tie). Im not sure if he would be considered a fusion or a child, so hElp?

honestly i agree with your clothes argument. A person's child probably's like "UGHHHHH MOM" (it's ok we've all said it) and doesn't want to be just like their parent. Maybe influenced, (Parent might dress for success so child might be influenced and dress more professionally.) But also if a parent's more strict, a kid is more likely to rebel. so just wanted to say those good key points when creating a child oc. Once again, totally agree.

This topic is a good one to over. I think it comes from people loving too many of the same attributes from both parents and want to keep them both. (The Multicolored hair being natural thing bothers me too) I won't say I'm not guilty of doing something like that when I was younger and just starting out. However, creating characters with a more realistic approach to how genes get passed from generation to generation makes for a wider variety of character choices, and they are so much more appealing to look at.

Alli here's a suggestion even tho you didn't ask for it oops. When a character's eyes are closed, you draw them with really thick black lines, which I think are eyelashes? But the OPEN eyes have almost no eyelashes... so it doesn't make sense, lol I have problems with that too so I'm sorry. But then also the eyebrows are SO BLACK and it doesn't match her hair color so you could maybe just outline the eyebrows?

If the hair had been slowly going from brown to blue then yes, it is indeed possible. If we take it as an art mistake then yes, the hair does make sense. And it's the exact same with the eyes. A mother could have blue eyes while the father has green The child can therefore have one blue eye and one green eye (which is what I did with one of my characters)

You should try making the eye color less bright or pastel You have to concentrate on the character face but many people don't realize that If you do that then your eyes are more focused on the face then the clothes I also find it a bit hard to see the colors,try something none pastel to balance out the colors of your character

The only problem I have with having a main oc(this is from my personal experience) I used to have a main oc names zara,they were an undertale skeleton oc (it’s cringe I know) and I drew *so* much art of them that people basically said “this is their main oc,let’s only associate them with this oc!” And basicly if someone drew fanart of “me” it was of zara instead of the me I use normally (my profile pictures and my draw the squads) which actually annoyed me more than it should have,just because zara,even I knew she was a cringe oc and I didn’t want to be associated with just her,I now have several other better oc’s which are better developed and have better personality’s instead of being cute little saints like zara was In short,I am much happier with my account (not on KZbin) now that people see me as a person not as an oc

Theory: Susan’s parents may have had blue and yellow souls, making hers green. And Skyler’s soul is a mix because blue and green doesn’t really make a color (It makes like green-blue sometimes but.... forget that :/) Or the souls are based off of their favorite colors Who knows Like, my OC’s souls are based on how they look. So my main OC’s favorite color is blue, but most of it is pink to show her hair And another OC of mine named muffin has a bright pink soul with dripping purple frosting on top. (Just the design... there’s no real frosting on her soul XD) I’m just gonna leave since I have nothing else to say... Bye.

Hey Alli I love your videos and I’m your age. I just wanted to let you know that the gender doesn’t come from the parents exactly, the gender is determined by health of the sperm. If the sperm is focused (closer to fertility for the woman) it is more likely a boy will be born. If intercourse takes place a couple days after the woman’s period and girl will be born. Other than that your video was amazing and I hope people learn from this :D

MaypletheFoxVA I disagree if you go to health class you'll learn that sperm carries either an x or y chromosome. That decides the gender of the baby because female eggs carry the X chromosome so XX would be girl and XY would be boy. The gender of the baby is predetermined when the sperm is made I think. That's what I know at least.
