Nb DE only works if it is dry, as it desiccates the mites, thus the felt , on the ‘glue’ side will be less effective. DE can also be used within dust bath/ bowl. It works for surface mites, as a part of mite management for many species, other types of mite will require other methods eg frontline, ivermectin etc

Very interesting, I didn’t know about the soap and that powder I don’t know if I can get that here. For now I have sold all my canneries. Would like to get a pair again though. Mites is a big problem for all my birds. I use a spray . But hard to keep the nests free . Specially my budgies. Tks for that tips of the soap.

I use the mite powder for the felt but I pva glue mine to the nest pan I'll be trying this method cheers

Can you use carbolic soap to clean the cages? Or as a spray in corners of the breeding cages to stop mite? thanks

They’re brought in on birds. Sadly not a lot you can do in terms of outright prevention other than to quarantine new birds and treat with exzolt. Then still the odd fee may linger

Carbolic soap doesn't work anymore because they have changed the ingredients in the soap
