Stupid question.... If you fed your white canaries blue, green or purple dyed egg food would they take up that colour into their feathers? Or you could add food dye to their bath water to colour them crazy colours.

Bramble finches are actually called brambling but don't suppose the halfwits in the caged bird world know that. A wonderful wild finch which migrates from Scandinavia and Eastern Europe to the UK each winter, a real treat. You've have them cooped up in a cage their whole lives, how can you justify it?

We call them bramble finches for the ease of distinguishing between the bird and ‘bramblings’ as in hedges with thorns etc which we may use In aviaries for certain species as nesting sites. I suggest you do some research and a little bit of logical thinking before you go questioning the intelligence of a whole community!

Find your videos very patronising. Love to know what happens to the failures ie bullies and crossbills. With so many pairs you really should be producing a shed full of chicks. One tip from someone with true experience....you simply cannot expect to rear natives if you keep disturbing them to take photo shoots.

And don't say all birds are captive bred, that's cobblers, illegal mist-netting and nest-raiding are both part of this ignorant old-fashioned trade. If you really like and want to help wild birds stop supplying.

Something we agree on then! Yes that is a common problem, not so much in the UK compared to other parts of the world, and it’s something breeders can help fix! So what’s the problem with me buying captive bred birds from reputable breeders, breeding them and the surplus being sold on to other keen and law-abiding hobbyists? Or does that no suit your argument? And do you ever wonder where animals from rewilding projects come from? Because I can assure you most of them and the parent stock are captive bred. If it wasn’t for us hobbyist breeders those projects would not be possible, something which I’m also actively involved in helping to reintroduce lost or scarce species from once deprived environments.

You've not yet justified keeping birds in cages, how do you justify it?

Keeping birds in cages is so selfish, how can you justify incarcerating something so wonderfully evolved to fly and be free? Ignorant in the extreme, disgusting.
