WOW! A bird which would have been disqualified at every bird show in Europe gets a special award in the UK @7:10! No doubt, they have different rules over there.

What makes you say that? I assume the split ring perhaps being seen as a marked bird you’re suggesting?

@@OCAVIARY correct, any other ring than the breeders ring is considered a marking of the bird and as such prohibited.

@@OCAVIARY I realised only now that the lipochrom bird with the melanin patch at the eye @6:40 does also wear a split ring (and many others too). I´ve no idea which color canary variation this is as melanin on lipochrom birds are a fault according our standards. It´s shown on the placard in the background when Jose Fernandes speaks but too small to read.
