If I remember correctly it's a Unified Korea, since Kim Jong Un in this reality unified North and South; they launched an EMP over the US and then a seaborne invasion. Oh, they also nuked Philadelphia I think and then occupied parts of the US. The US military is still semi-functional in places, but they are (somehow) struggling

In the game lore. The Koreans/China quickly advanced and absorbed the asian nations. quickly developing the tech they needed and using conventional cargo ships and similar to aid them in a attack along with a conventional fleet. Basically they were modern China. However like modern China the tech they had well useful wasn't as reliable. Most of the best gear was only for specific troops and or units meaning your basic grunt has pretty subpar weapons. When they EMP the US they quickly invade and loot and steal, tech, civilian and military. Especially American made weapons as they were far better than the standard issue weapons they had. The weapons were likely looted from American bases and supply stashes. This is actually true to real life as American made gear is generally better than anything coming from china. So much that the Chinese have stolen tech, or have tried to emulate gear, tactics and tech.
