Or wait long enough for tech points, but it would go faster if you can build the Transformer and connect those solar panels...

I guess they slowed down charging through "fingers into socket" to make the charging Rack more interresting... there were times when there was NO rack in the game and through socket worked just fine...

I thought the charging was slower

BTW, charging from panels during the night is not possible :( And using light during day depletes battery faster.
