TRADE TALK | OCD DESTROYED My Life.
Luke's battle with OCD was like walking through a minefield every day. Simple tasks became monumental challenges as his mind became ensnared in a relentless loop of compulsions and fears. It would take him hours just to leave the house, trapped in a cycle of checking and rechecking everything-from locks to switches to appliances. The anxiety was suffocating, creeping into every aspect of his life, even making sleep an elusive luxury.
He sought help and was prescribed antidepressants, hoping they would offer some reprieve, but they proved futile against the overwhelming grip of his OCD. Desperate for relief, he turned to alcohol, a temporary escape from the constant barrage of intrusive thoughts. Yet, this coping mechanism only deepened his struggles, turning his life into a chaotic maze.
It was a wake-up call-an awakening that pushed Luke towards a different path. He realised that temporary fixes weren’t the solution. With sheer determination and a glimmer of hope, he sought therapy. It wasn’t an overnight transformation, but slowly, therapy became his lifeline. Learning coping mechanisms, understanding triggers, and gradually reclaiming control became the pillars on which he rebuilt his life.
Therapy was his turning point. It empowered him to break free from the shackles of OCD, piece by piece. It wasn’t an easy journey; setbacks and challenges marked his path. But with every small victory, Luke found renewed strength and resilience. With time and dedication, he learned to manage his OCD, allowing him to regain control over his life and find a renewed sense of purpose and joy.

I've suffered with OCD since I was 8. I'm now 66. Antidepressants are the right treatment... in particular SSRI's. But what his doctor should have done is reffered him to a behaviour therapist for ERP, Exposure and Response Prevention therapy. You can't cure OCD but you can learn to control it. OCD is in the top 5 most debilitating disorders. There are genes involved.

Great advice and thanks for sharing. To be honest until he discussed it we didn’t realise how bad it can be for people. Hopefully more people will see your comment and take the advice. Appreciate the comment 👏

@shahirhaiqal1300 You should certainly seek professional advice, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, namely, Exposure and Response Prevention therapy, is the way to go. ERP is very effective for many. I'm going through a bad phase, myself. ERP plus an SSRI is helping me a lot. You can learn to control the symptoms and lead a normal life. It takes time and persistence but is achievable. CBT/ERP and for some an SSRI, is the gold standard treatment. Trust in yourself, you can get it under control, believe in yourself.

I'm impressed by the depth of insight in this video. What strategies or techniques did Luke find most effective in managing his OCD, and how did he discover them? As someone who runs a dream interpretation channel, I'm curious if Luke's experiences with therapy and coping mechanisms have influenced his dreams or subconscious patterns in any significant way. I appreciate Luke's courage in sharing his journey with OCD and have liked and subscribed to his channel for more insightful content like this.
