I would say that It is in control now. Mostly I don't prevent my thoughts from coming and I also don't try to seek reassurance for the obsessive thoughts. Try to agree with the thoughts and accept the risk. The main focus is to embrace the uncertainty.

Thats what ocd does, its a bully. Its gonna keep convincing you until you become a boss. I'm no professional but all I'll say is just accept the thoughts as they are. They aren't actions, they aren't something you would ever do, they are just in your brain, we're all human. Even my mom gets intrusive thoughts, we all do. Just people with ocd including myself make it seem like a big deal. Just stand up to ocd like its a bully, don't ignore it, don't push it away. Don't overthink Like let me just say if I get a crazy thought about me flying or blowing something up with my hands? Would that really happen? Heck no, thats just our brains. We either have good/weird/disturbing thoughts. Our brain just makes up weird ideas in our heads

You should make a video on ocd thoughts that cause stress or anxiety symptoms. For example, what if you have self harm internally and stress yourself out from a thought such as “why am I not freaking out right now, why am I calm?” Also, questioning one’s reality. those type of ocd thoughts where you break down philosophical questions and can’t answer them exactly and you become obsessive. Your tips help with this, but to focus for a second on this type of ocd would be extra helpful. Good job!

The problem with me is that I sometimes try to calm myself down when my OCD kicks, and I do so by challenging it in kinda the same way you show in this video. But, when I do so, the OCD starts kicking harder and making me fear that I really am or even will be what I thought ‘cause I accepted it, and because I’ve done this ERP like instinctively or subconsciously (keeping in mind that I haven’t practiced/done it a lot before), I start doubting that this ain’t an ERP it’s just that I am what my OCD says since it’s unreasonable to do ERP subconsciously when I’m not used to it, especially that ERP is not an easy thing to do even with practice and getting used to it, so doing it subconsciously is a bullshit, and it was just me accepting the thoughts ‘cause I’m as bad as what my OCD says! This is how my OCD works 😣 *Is it normal to do ERP or something similar subconsciously or instinctively just to calm down, even though I am not used to it nor have I practiced it before?*

Absolutely agree with you, but it is the OCD fighting us, I have this compulsion where I "forget" that I washed my hands, or "forget" if I scrubbed enough times (pattern and counting) but I am trying to break this, if it's a "trigger" washing session, it's so much more difficult, like "this one is more important" but it's all the same soap 😕 you are not alone, I ruminate a lot also
@sarah_noodle Жыл бұрын
I know what you’re saying. I’m terrified (especially for the type of OCD I’m suffering with right now) that acceptance means I’ll become what my brain is afraid of becoming. Something this guy said in another one of his videos stuck with me and brought me comfort: Follow your values and your morals. If you are having anxiety about an intrusive thought, it means that your ego/self/conscience/whatever is NOT aligned with that thing. So if you act upon your values, you will be just fine. Also, I don’t think the intuitive ERP is a sign of your worries being true. I think you just very luckily stumbled on what works and your brain just doesn’t know what to do with itself when you’ve conquered an scary intrusive thought, so it creates a new doubt. The one thing I hate the most about this disorder is that I feel like if I’m not worried about something (whether it be the current obsession, or something else) that something terrible will happen. Kind of like, “it’s quiet….too quiet.” 😂

Do you think im able to fight this without talking to someone? That sounds im seeking reassurance but I just mean that I'm getting better at just accepting every single thought in my head. The only thing that just worries me is that if I just allow these thoughts in without worrying that just means something towards me or like the thoughts mean something to myself. That would probably mean I'm just doubting myself though. I don't even pay attention to the thoughts anymore because they aren't important but it just gets overwhelming when they feel strong
