Exactly. Pushing them away only brings them: My personal trick to understanding everything is observation. When you get triggered by an image/thought, observe your feelings and reactions. You'll see that you're definitely opposing them and disliking them. That's why those thoughts and images are there. Intrusive thoughts are all the opposite of you. That's why you pay attention to them.

If anyone struggling with OCD or instrusive thoughts sees this, then I hope that my guide below will help you with beating it, because I certainly did thanks to this. So first of all you need to know that thoughts are something that come no matter what, we can't control whether they will appear or not, but we can stop them in their tracks. I figured this method of stopping OCD thoughts myself, so basically what you need to do is whenever you'll get triggered with impulsive thoughts, you focus your mind on an image representing both distracting thoughts and your focus - for example it can be thought of a sphere (which represents focus) surrounded by red clouds (which represents negative thoughts). Now, what you'll need to do after imagining that is thinking about going from those red clouds inside this sphere, after that, you just focus on being inside of it, no other thought should come to your head. You do that for max. 30 seconds and after that, your thoughts most likely will be a lot calmer than they were (it was like that for me, I've definitely felt a difference). So now, what exactly are we doing here? Well, I'm not a doctor or anything, but from what I could've gathered, we are doing those few thing: 1.We are breaking our thought loop by focusing on something else 2.We are training our ability to focus (which yes, is a matter of skill and practice) 3.We are weakening our reaction to OCD thoughts (because now, we have some kind of "weapon" against them - therefore them coming to our heads is not that scary anymore, because we know, that we can get rid of them) 4.We are making our thought pattern different from before - what I mean by that, is that after some time, those thoughts won't even come to our heads anymore, because they become nothing of significance (With time) Now - I know that it may sound like it's just a recipe for creating your own compulsion, not a solution, but actually it is NOT a compulsion. Compulsion is something USELESS IN NATURE that we do, because we belive that it helps us (and in some way it does) - this however, is pretty much a focus excersise, and it actually does something more than just giving us this placebo effect. Because of that, we won't stick to it after our issue is gone. Hope it will help someone with their OCD fight, because it sure helped me, pretty much completely.

THANK YOU for sharing your guide!! My medication isn't working and trying to "accept" the thoughts instead of pushing them away isn't helping at all, it's still extremely anxiety provoking. Trying to think of something positive isn't doing much either. I literally have tears in my eyes, this mind exercise helped me a lot!! While it took a while for me to get through the red clouds and into the sphere, once I was in the sphere I definitely felt calmer. With time I really think this exercise could help me

@@jiminoppa2425do you mind me asking if that method helped you? I’ve been struggling with this for a long time now and I can’t seem to stop obsessing over the intrusive thoughts. It’s ruining me and killing me on the inside literally. I’m just wondering if it’s helped you at all or if you’ve found relief in any other ways?
@jiminoppa2425
@jiminoppa2425 3 ай бұрын
@@Anyoneoutthere89 Hi! So it’s been over a year since I tried the described method and I have a lot to say. Firstly, I remember watching this video in a vulnerable state. I had just had an anxiety attack and while the idea of the described method is good in theory, I only really found it to be helpful that one time. It’s extremely difficult to find methods that actually work for me and I sadly haven’t found one that stops the intrusive thoughts all together, BUT I’ve since learned that those internal methods of trying to “outthink” the intrusive thoughts doesn’t work at all. (At least not for me) If you’re like me and you can’t outsmart yourself like that because the thoughts are so extreme they override your intellect, I would actually suggest a different approach. Instead of trying to find ways to numb or distract yourself from the thoughts by “thinking of something positive” or “accepting them” or whatever else, I would actually recommend educating yourself on the topic instead. And by this I mean really getting deep into things like how thoughts work, how intrusive thoughts are triggered, what happens in your brain when you have OCD, how one gets OCD to begin with, how your childhood has impacted the way you deal with OCD, stuff like that Having the knowledge about how things work, how and why things happen the way they do, would allow you to look at it from a different (and more analytical) angle. We sadly can’t control what our brain thinks about long term. Thinking about something positive will only work shortly, if at all. So instead of trying to think our way out of something that can’t be outsmarted, why not learn about it instead, you know? It would also make it a lot easier when trying to explain what OCD is like to someone who doesn’t understand at all, if you feel like the people around you have a hard time understanding what you’re going through. Some other (more simple) things that have helped me: - Get a hobby (seriously), really letting myself get deep into a hobby has improved my life SO much! If finding one is hard, think back to your childhood self, what hobbies did you have back then? - Listen to music, while it is a way to distract yourself I find that it’s more effective than thought exercises because of the external sensory stimulation you get from listening to it. - Lastly, getting a cat has helped me in ways I couldn’t even have imagined. Seriously, (I’m harm and germ OCD) so getting a cat has seriously helped me with the germ side of my OCD. I hope any of this was helpful to you!

I have OCD problem since 6 years.. yeah, but now i am 21 old and i control them.. but the only thoughts that's coming to me is : " You are not gonna get healed " or " You are gonna get hurt, or DEAD. " on very harmful problems/stuff like on my body and hair i have itch problem cause i didn't take a hot shower for weeks.. but the problem is i can't control my itch because every time i stop.. when it really hurts i get afraid that its gonna get explode or something so i scratch... and when i really want to stop those scratching, the thoughts comes to me always and says " YOU ARE NOT GONNA GET HEALED IF YOU STOP " or " YOU GONNA GET HURT, OR DEAD from it " so i believe it and i scratch. but i am brave enough to stop and i did stop at some times and it really stopped hurting for a while.. BUT... it gets back and i get afraid and that's when i start believe in Failure and Despair. and no one sames to care about me or my problems and i really realize that we only take care of our self's in this life but i don't really like how the way that goes... if you really care or wanna help, HELP ME and GOD BLESS YOU, Thanks!.

I understand how you feel, please know that there are so many people who have gotten better after getting help. It's hard for people to relate if they've never experienced OCD but you can always seek help from therapy. Meditation also helps tremendously. Don't expect it to do wonders the first time you do it but it will have a cumulative effect over time. Stick to it and it can teach you to not be affected by every single negative thought.

I have ocd, I've had multiple types of ocd but now it's really just the intrusive kind. I don't have repeated intrusive bad thoughts all the time anymore but now and then I have a bad "opposite to myself thought" and I will compulsively think about that one thought I had for days to weeks trying to replay the thought in my head and reassure myself it wasn't me that chose to think it and that it's not my true belief. I then feel confused and question myself if it's what I really think or if it's just an ocd thought, I will also feel very disappointed in myself for having the thought and feel demotivated. I also feel that having the thought corrupts external things that are important to me (similar to contamination ocd) and then feel like I've ruined/tainted it and worry what other's (my peers etc that would be against what the ocd thought is about) would think of me if I told them about it. Ocd only attacks what I deem most important and tries to corrupt it. It's the same underlying type of thing as when I felt like I would contaminate material things that are important to me but now it's in a thought form way.. Anyone else have this similar type of ocd?

So whats the bottom line? when do our thoughts produce emotional concequences and when they do not? Ive hard a ton of things.." when we believe them" "when we engage to them" "when we focus on them" "when we follow them" "when we have any reaction to them"... whats the bottom line with this one? Can we please make a sort of guiding rule to when thoughts have concequences and when they dont have? That would be really helpful !!!!!! Please respond !! Youre awesome - subbed

Basically just try not to react to them. Dont get upset or mad or worried about them. Treat them as clouds that will just pass by. Dont interact with them either. Dont try and figure out what it means or try to mentally debunk it or anything. Just no reaction, its in your head, its a passing cloud, nothing more. Easier said than done ill admit but it really works.
