Captured a particular mood and moment in time in musical history. Craddock; makes the guitar talk. Harrison; solid as a rock. Minchella; beautifully delicate melodic bass lines and Fowler. Absolutely sincere ... Great time for music.

I really like how Minchella could also turn out absolutely rumbling, thudding bass lines on the harder rock numbers. Him and Oscar were a great rhythm section. Cradock a superlative guitarist. And I love how Fowler could bend his voice to hard rock numbers and to more delicate mood songs like this. Here, his voice is beautiful and atmospheric and trippy in parts of the song and hard-edged and powerful in other parts. Beaut combination. To my mind, Fowler is absolutely top league in terms of post-60s vocalists, great voice and really attractive as a presence/front man and good bloke. In fact, they all came across as real decent, regular blokes. Interesting combinations too: three white guys and one black guy; three straight guys and one gay guy. Rock music doesn't get better than this.

Band was never the same for me after Minchella left/ got the boot. Such a shame.

Absolutely outstanding rendition of Fleeting mind. The original line up was the best, I miss Damon being in the band.

This song is even more beautiful live than on 'Moseley Shoals'. It's a stunning number.

But not being quite perfect is really perfect. This and 'Get Away' are probably my two biggest favourites of theirs, because there is a whole mood/atmosphere that is allowed to develop in these numbers. I rally like the shorter brasher songs, but numbers like this just add that whole extra dimension to them and put them at the top of the class of that era.

They played this in Lincoln last night. Just stunningly beautiful.

Summers End? The one where Shed Seven and a few other great bands were at too? I was there, standing right at the front, not moving for 10 hours! Completely worth it though. Every band there was amazing, and it was amazing to see OCS live for the first time, the same band I've been listening to my entire life. Wow I'm getting so many memories... It really was stunning!

Moseley Shoals woke music up in the 90's. Sure, The La's briefly did in the late 80's, The Stone Roses briefly did too, and Blur and Oasis (briefly) did too, but this album really showed the world that bands were back. I firmly believe that bands like Oasis, Blur, Pulp and a few others did start a trend of bringing back bands, but that they would most likely have petered out were it not for bands like OCS. Maybe they appeared to be behind Oasis and Blur in the popularity stakes, but by God they were (and are) a proper band, and with serious musicians, seriously great songs, and great staying power. For me, OCS were the MOST important band of the 90's for that reason. And I like them best too!

This and 'Get Away' are my two favourite OCS songs and two of my all-time favourite songs. But it's not just the songs that are good - these guys just fit together perfectly. The rhythm section and lead guitar meld perfectly and the instruments and the voice meld perfectly. They had serious firepower but also serious subtlety and they knew how to deploy them together to create jut stunningly beautiful numbers like this and 'Get Away', while also creating some great pop hits. The four of them were lucky to find each other and create something even greater than the four very fine individual parts. Their long apprenticeship before they found success served them (and us fans!) really, really well.
