This abstract take on the ocean incorporated willow wood, power carving, a unique resin casting technique, an attempt at quilling and finally turning the project on the lathe. Also, introducing my new steady rest!

I never would have thought this would turn out the way it did....simply beautiful....and when you were wiping it down and turning it as you went, the clearness of it looked like a mirror image until I realized it was so clear and I am looking through it. Great work, probably my favorite..." so far". Keep up the great work.

Dan, wood in any form, chips shavings or otherwise, does not pollute the environment. Nature has processes established millions of years ago to recycle wood and other natural materials and thus, re-introduce them back in to the cycle of life. Most folks these days believe everything is contaminating everything else. It is good in one way however, too much of anything is bad in it self. Thanks for what you're doing and your work is fantastic. Keep on!!!

Faults in a handmade art piece prove it is not machine- or tech-made. Being an artist myself, I appreciate seeing the humanity in a finished work. A flaw can bring a piece alive and allow it to speak. Strange, perhaps, but true.

I am amazed at how well it turned out. Casting Epoxy resin in a garbage bag mold supported by paper confined by sand never occurred to me as being possible. Had you put the pressure pot in a water bath, you cou;d have had all the temperature control you would ever need. The cracks in the casting looked no different than the cracks in the wood in the willow log you started with.

My Grandmother had Alzheimer's, and I have noticed symptoms of it in me. I am a trained speed reader, and worked in an information gathering service. An article released by the AARP reported that the US National Institute of Health wanted to study the effects of alcohol on people with Alzheimer's. The results surprised them so much they did 2 double blind studies and got the same results. Light to moderate alcohol consumption halts the progress of the disease. Stops it cold, no matter how far it has gone. But what shocked them so much is that if the disease has not progressed past a certain point, It triggered nerve cell regrowth in the hippocampus. It reconnected all four quadrants of the brain. It reversed the disease! When I found myself staring at my computer and didn't know what to do, and had problems remembering how to do my job! I didn't drink, I had no desire to go down My father's private road to hell. But I had nothing to lose and everything to gain. I tried it. In the first 30 days things came back I didn't know I had lost. My creativity, my sense humor, my problem solving, my writing ability. Try it on your mom, it will at least stop the progress of the disease. Give her a chance for some quality of life. There is one other thing that does the same thing. According to the Scripps Institute of Medical Research, medical marijuana does the exact same thing. Please try it, I am not some kook playing you! It has helped me so much. I have 1 can beer at night, I can't stand the taste. I wish I could afford Reds Apple Ale, it at least tastes better. But please try it, you have nothing to loose and maybe much to gain. I swear by it now. I don't ever want to loose myself again. Sincerely, Ozwald Gardner

Maybe I'm weird, but as a maker, I dig the imperfections because it's like this unspoken way of going, "This is handmade and purely one of a kind." No other project, even if it were made exactly the same way, would have those exact imperfections. The bubbles and cracks honestly just enhance the ocean feel of the piece. Absolutely gorgeous! @@artgivinghope Sir have you published a coffee table book with the beautiful pictures of your art? I for one would buy these as gifts for those that have never seen this type of art...not even at art festivals or the Kimball art Center. Another AWSOME ave for you to create awareness and revenue. I know someone who would love to do the writing for such a book/ project. She knows what she’s doing when she’s inspired like yourself. We both worked with the "throw always" for many years and now they thrive beyond survival. Just a thought as if you were not already busy enough. I randomly watched another youtuber who turned wood and resin vases and saw a thumbnail for one of yours. I clicked on it and was shocked to see the Delicate Arch in your intro and thought, "Is this guy in UTAH???" Well, imagine my surprise and thrill that you are. I live in West Valley and have been living in this wonderful state all my life. I am so happy that I came across your channel and I plan to support you and the OUR cause as much as I am able. Thank you for creating such wonderful pieces of art for us to enjoy and to raise awareness of the horrible things that are going on in this country with child trafficking. I haven't watched all of your videos but wonder if you have ever thought about either incorporating the Arch or maybe the beautiful stalagmites from Timpanogos Cave in a vase.

Your work that I just witnessed..... All I can say is WOW ❤❤ You just opened up a serious NEW ARTISTIC Endeavors! For me. Thank you so very much for this great VIDEO. I have learned a lot and will definitely contribute to your cause. I myself was a nurse. I understand exactly what is needed with more support. I sure would like to speak with you about the Motorcycle Club I've served with that would possibly jump in to help. KNIGHTS OF THE INFERNO FIREFIGHTERS, MILITARY, PARAMEDIC And MEDICAL. Motorcycle Club.

I think cracks add interest and show that it’s hand made and not mass produced. Cracks would be better than seeing glue marks imo. You do beautiful work.

I love the design. It turned out beautiful. I often used curves and swirls in my designs for my stained glass window builds. When there’s that amount of resin it’s hard to avoid thermal cracking, I love that your piece’s are big and gorgeous. Using a refrigerator or freezer will slow the cure and cool down the resin enough to prevent a exothermic reaction. BM Sculptures has a video on it.. the video title is: I broke all the rules, he poured 8 gallons of epoxy in a single pour.
