Anne Hathaway has an Oscar, Helen Botham Carter has a BAFTA, and Critic's Choice, Screen Actor's Guild and A LOT more.This movie has a great, critically acclaimed cast and it's going to be successful.

Adam K - story is what makes a movie. Doesn't matter if they have nobodies or award winners. Case in point - Movie 43. (from IMDB's discription of the plot) " He tells stories of a woman on a blind date with a man who has testicles growing from his neck, in another a smitten woman offers her neck to her boyfriend to 'poop' on -as a sign of commitment and love. In yet another two parents take home-schooling to a whole new level of indecency, striving to give their isolated teenage son all the 'regular' torment and humiliation of puberty by bullying, peer-pressuring and even seducing him themselves." See, I don't think you can tell stories like that and make it agreeable to anyone, even as a farce/meta-statement on the state of movies today, so your shade throwing on a teaser trailer using Movie 43 as your point - just doesn't work.

But these aren't ridiculously high-paid actress necessarily. There's a difference between commercial success and someone that does critically acclaimed movies. When you put together an ensemble of very talented and acclaimed actress, it's important to not just write them off because they're women. And no, I don't work for the studio. I love movies and I'm an aspiring actress. So women like Sandra, Sarah, and Cate, who work their asses off don't deserve this dumb sort of sexism.

Firstly, this isn't a chick flick. It's a heist movie that happens to star women. Not every movie with women is a chick flick - chick flick is a genre in itself and yeah, one of its staples is getting a man. Also, it obviously *will* pass the Bechdel test, since the antagonist is also a woman and they will be having a lot of conversations about planning/executing the heist. Even if it turns out to be the most terrible piece of drivel imaginable, I can't imagine how it could be constructed *not* to pass the Bechdel test, even on purpose, let alone by accident.

For those of you are complaining that it’s unoriginal and they should be making a new film with an all female cast. Oceans with Clooney was a reboot and it still did well. Reboots aren’t unoriginal there a different take. Think of all the different versions of Shakespeare’s plays. All the different versions of classic tales. Because it was originally a male cast. The reboot with Clooney kept a male cast as the original from the 1960's Ocean 11. It's obviously a cash grab because that's 2/3 of what Hollywood has been putting out for the last half decade. And if you haven't noticed, there's been a pattern with rebooting old classics that had a male cast with an all female cast. That would be like rebooting Mean Girls, Charlies Angels, Pitch Perfect, All About My Mother, Waiting to Exhale, Kill Bill, Legally Blonde with an all male cast. Most women would go batshit.

It's not even really a reboot. It's a different set of characters because the plot is different. This is the sister. I think it's more the fact that they took a franchise made popular by a group of men, then once they had it successful just gratuitously replaced them all with women. This film would be great as an original all-female heist film, but it was just really unnecessary slapping the Ocean's sticker on it. Let women make their own great films instead of standing on the shoulders of men is the sentiment I think you're talking about. As an aside, if an all-female film were remade with an all-male cast, I imagine there would be far greater backlash. Just my two cents

Wonder Woman was a huge success because women and decent men supported it. If you want women to produce original ideas, then give them the same financial tools men get and then you won't have remakes and reboots with an all female cast. What makes this work for me: -Strong actresses, many of whom are playing against type. -Proper if understated use of the Ocean's franchise signature style -I actually laughed when Rhianna said "8 Ball" -The Ocean's movies were always shameless cash-grabs done with exceptional class. This fits the mold. Using Nancy Sinatra is just cheating tho.

People need to not whine and pay attention to some details in trailers. This acts as more of a sequel than a remake/reboot. The tomb Sandra is looking at is Danny Ocean’s. Giving the few years age difference between the actors, she’s playing his sister. The tomb is for George Clooney’s Danny Ocean, not Sinatra’s. He’s either dead or faked his death and in hiding.

I think you missed the point , is not the fact that a movie having mostly female protagonists suck. Its more of clearly hollywood is pandering to feminist and you can clearly see with the example of the female ghostbuster film. Sure its cool that they switched up to the leads being female but the movie how it was directed just sucked. The movie followed the exact same premise as the original ghostbusters , the exact same pacing, yet still fell short. Again not just because the movie featured females as the lead but the movie idea was crap. To stick a iconic franchise and using females as your leads to promote the crappy film in hopes that this will attract the feminist crowd just so transparently sucky.
