I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out the ocean foam thing from tutorials with no real success. I like figuring this stuff out on my own... but I caved and got your water system today (couldn't beat the price). It's awesome, perfect for cinematics, and will save me so much time on my renders. Thank you. ;) I gave it five stars on the marketplace. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

One of the problems of nanites incredible detail rendering is that the shoddier collision meshes used for calculating foam interactions become very obvious when you zoom in as seen in the demo at the start of the video. This is something that Epic is going to need to address to really make UE5 shine with beach/cliff meets ocean scenarios.

Thanks, Dylan! I struggled all weekend with single plane water effects and the built in Unreal Water shader and the results were underwhelming. Just purchased your asset and I can't wait to try it out. I know it's probably laborious for you to do, but a detailed explanation of those Gerstner controls would be appreciated since trial and error doesn't alway explain what is going on and why, sometimes seeming to have no noticeable effect at all. Thanks for making the asset and the video explaining it all!

Hey! Is there a way to freeze the water animation and then change it's phase/seed to something we choose? Would be handy with rendering stills and setting up the perfect water shape that is consistent.

Hi, I'm having some troubles setring the ocean to High Resolution at distance. I only get low res when I render it away from the camera, even if I change the LOD parameters. How do I manage it?

How does this behave with dynamic objects? If something is moving, will it cause waves? Like a fluid simulation or does everything need to be static?

Hey Dylan, I‘ve purchased your pack and it looks awesome!! Great work, thanks a lot 🙏🏼🙏🏼 I just happen to have a question… Somehow lines start to appear when I’m in. A specific distance to the Ocean_BP, just like a grid 👀 do you know why? Does anybody else have a similar “problem”? The water looks beautiful, but I can’t render it out if these lines don’t go away ._.

I want make it optimize for gameplay but how to get rid of noisy and blurry effect on screen?where is tha option or effect part that makes blurry? I get just take the functionality of wpo to my water and works pretty well. Let's study this sytem!

No this does not support Buoyancy as its a material based setup. but any objects that have a distance field will get edge foam.

@@dylser 2 problems I’m running into. 1. For some reason my landscape does not create foam. It works great around meshes but my landscape seems to disregard the foam completely. 2. Been trying to figure out how to change the direction of the waves. Would be awesome if you could help here. Thanks!

I have a scene where my camera is flying low, quickly over the water, but I see water planes popping in and out when rendering. Is this a matter of setting LOD settings correctly?

Hi there, yes in that iinstance you would probably want to up the LOD distance or scale and also possibly up density

Hello, my classmates and i are trying to create a flooded city street. This looks awesome. If we added a boat of some sort and had it animating acroos the water, does the water interact with it? Like waves and foam as it moves through the water and the waves collide with the buildings. Thank you

Idea: What if you let the multible lod areas overlap and bend them down a bit at the end (if this is somehow possible) so you have a smooth gapless transition in between the lods and no problems with that

I shot a video of my work for you, I want to use the sea in a realistic way, but the fps drops a little. But that's not my problem for now, I can't close these gaps with this quality. Hi, I'm sorry for the trouble, but I have a problem that I can't solve for a long time, I really ask for help if you know the solution to the problem. I want to shoot the ocean from a great height, the size of the ocean is enough, but the reflection from the sun, from the sky abruptly ends at a certain distance and then the ocean is visible without any reflection, it's just dark.

Hello there! Thanks for the video. I used this plugin a while back on a project of mine. It worked great. I'm having an issue with a new project though. This time around I put the BP into the scene, I get a flat, slightly moving plane with lots of foam. Are there any plugins or settings that need to be turned on to get the BP to work? Sorry, It's been a while since I used this and though maybe you could point me in the right direction. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi bud. I've been using your BP for a few days now and it's absolutely perfect in scene. Now please don't take this the wrong way, but is there a specific reason as to why you are avoiding the question of buoyancy, which a few have already asked about? If its not possible on your BP, I'd really like to know if there is a sharp workaround perhaps? Again, the water is possibly the best I've seen so I'm not trying to be negative

Hey mate thanks for the kind words! not avoiding the question of buoyancy, but I don't get a lot of time to come and reply to questions so I usually come and do it in batches, I've been asked many times about buoyancy and have replied to many of them (maybe mostly on the marketplace page), the unfortunate fact is that in a material based wave generation setup buoyancy is usually a no go as you need the BP side of things to know the wave height etc. usually for a system that supports buoyancy the wave calculations would be done on the CPU in C++ which then can be read by both the material and the game logic. As this is a material based setup this isn't really feasible. Cheers

hello, i tried to add a blueprint to my project, but when i add the ocean, i just don't see anything. Also, there are no materials on the ocean, adding them does not change anything.

Hey there! When rendering I sadly have an issue when the sun is low I have weird flickering dot effects in each frame and even with 64x antialiasing it does not fix it

Hi , as I said in the video sometimes depending on lighting situation the bloom on sub pixel size speckles blows out. and you get this effect, You can try turning off bloom to see if this is the same issue, to combat it I would try changing the anti aliasing override to use TSR instead of None, this has helped in the past as TSR works to dim single frame hotspots. or another method is to render without bloom and then add a post process bloom in editing software after. Hi dylan, I purchased your product ( amazing quality render by the way), but when the camera moves from a point A to point B, some elements appears in the water material suddenly. it's like when my camera arrive to a certain distance, things that were far away begins to appears. Have you an idea what is happening and how to solve it? ( I encountered a similar situation when i use massive scale city, and when i record the sequence, some buildings begin to appears when a get closer) Thank you !!

Hey there, as in the tiles of the water system are popping in? you could try increasing the lod distance settings in the asset

Hey @dylan Browne, I just have a doubt, Im creating a scene with wide shot of a large ship. The foam doesn't get rendered when I keep my camera further back, only half of the foam gets rendered when move further back ANY SOLUTION??

I figured it out. Change this, basically the foam is reliant of the global distant field and for wide shops it doesn't extend far enough r.AOGlobalDistanceField.NumClipmaps 5

No it does not use render targets or textures, this is just pure math in the material.

As long as the object has a distance field it will have shore foam :)

@@stuffcreationstudio If its a static mesh and you have generate mesh distance fields enabled for the project (enabled by default in 5.0+) it should work

@@dylser i have a character godzilla i want to use it for a scene with ships.. as i already make scenes on youtube. I also used your ocean in my last video. The godzilla character don't show foam around. I want him to animate along with ships while moving in ocean.

@@stuffcreationstudio Ahh ok im guessing its a skeletal mesh then, yeh those don't do distance fields i'm pretty sure, but i think some people get away with it by having invisible spheres that do write to the distance field parented to the leg joints or wherever that would, unfortunately I have no experience with skeletal meshing.
