Join me for a watercolor ocean wave lesson.
This ocean wave watercolor used a few techniques: wet on wet washes to lay in the light, then midtones, darks, a toothbrush and ruler to create the "spray" effect, and more. This was a lot of fun. I'm getting ready to travel and needed something to relax and this did the trick. Simple colors, easy lines and then playing with the white splash at the end.

It would be great if you were speaking and telling us what you're doing, what the various techniques are etc. Also, It's so hard to try and paint along with the video on fast speed!

@@CindyWatercolorArt enjoyed it very much ... painting the waves, moving sea water is very complicated and you have a gift to do it. From what I have seen on KZbin and I have seen a lot, I am always looking for this theme in watercolor and on this subject I can assure you that I have seen only 2 or 3 artists, including you who paint the sea in spectacular fashion.

Diane! I hope you are well! The colors in the description are accurate. I'm thinking of doing this one again because some of the video was missing. Cold press, yes. Arches 140#. Quality paper helps. Brushes - Silver Black Velvet in differing sizes. I'll reply more and see if there's any other brushes. But the colors are in there. Let me know if you don't see them and I'll copy paste them here. :)

What white are you using on sponge…gauche or watercolor white?

Gouache but I recommend P H Martin white. It's fantastic.

Nidya Zuhra, Good morning! Thanks for asking! I will be trying to add in the colors to my videos in the future. For this one: I used Holbein watercolors. If you need brand suggestions, let me know. There are other brands, cheaper, than this one but still good. The colors I used were: indigo, white "gouache", neutral (a blackish tone), cerulean, horizon blue, vervain hue, marine blue. I'll double check this and update it if needed.
