Hi Sheri, you definitely need the Townsend mic itself due to its unique dual capsule design which is integral to the modeling.

You need the Sphere L22 mic for it to work. The Sphere plug-in is specifically designed and calibrated to work with the L22. And the L22 is a dual channel mic which is how it can model polar patterns and other characteristics.

This is the only mic modeling system that runs with near-zero latency on the UAD platform. Compared to VMS you're getting a more complete picture of the original mics and full control over mic patterns, proximity effect, etc.

Candiani Photography Them you can’t youse it as simple as that. You can buy that Uad 2 Satellite Box or an Apollo audio Interface. Except the Narrow. You must look at the Sharp Dsp Chips on the Interfaces in the Specs of the Interface.

You can use the Townsend Sphere with any interface. But the OWS mics are only available on the UAD platform.

its just funny to think that like Allen Sides said in different interviews years ago in the 70's and 80's they were throwing out old tube mics and old tube gear by the tons because everyone thought transistors were the future. How crazy to think the direction things could have went had someone not realized the value of the old gear thats stood the test of time. Allens and these companies are no dummies though and they certainly know how to china-fy their way to consumerist America, just is what it is these days
