Naude, you're not getting enough credit for being the founder of this conservation project and getting others on board including teaching his wife and children. Such a kind, caring man out in the middle of no mans land. Funds are scarce because of the isolation in this area. This is a legitimate cause that's in need of financial help. I'm sure they would like to build a hospital for some these sea creatures,( not only seals,) which unfortunately have to be let back to the wild despite horrendous wounds. Times are tough all over the world,but it's our duty to protect and save all our God given creatures.

With regard to an animal hospital, Naude has repeatedly said it’s far better for the seals to heal naturally in the sea than in “captivity”. Plus the financial outlay is not worth it, with the money being far better utilised doing rescues the way they are currently done.

Makes me wonder if there's a difference in behaviour between groups in each colony. Could it be time of day. Just after a tiring hunt or "play" in the water. Before or after sleep. When is the optimal time to run into each group, or is it all just stochastic noise and any perceived effect is due to confirmation bias and imperfect memory?

Thank you for your kind words! While we’re deeply committed to helping the seals, we know our work is just a small part of a much bigger battle. Our rescues highlight the urgent need to address the root causes of ocean pollution-like our reliance on single-use plastics and the gaps in law enforcement and recycling efforts. Naude did indeed start this whole rescue squad. Antoine was already in Green Peace whose goal is to stop illegal fishing. When he joined Naude there was just Naude and his wife, Kat. It has now grown into more and more people and they sometimes train rescuers from other countries. It keeps expanding wider and wider. This is such a great legacy for Naude. It proves that one person can make a gigantic difference in this world. God bless you Naude.

it's terrible that much garbage gets put into the oceans every hour, every day. it's inexcusable what's constantly being allowed. you've been calling attention to the problem for a very long time, but the people that can put an end to it, don't care in the least🤬🤬🤬 Thanks for the beautiful seals you rescued today, and the ones with injuries, i hope they heal very fast. great work guys, you're the best👍👍
@rickl1244 ай бұрын
Thanks everyone involved with getting the word out about fishing line and what its doing to wildlife. All fishing line today should be biodegradable. There's so much of that crap that ends up in streams, lakes, rivers, and ultimately the ocean killing wildlife. The same goes towards nets that commercial fishermen use. They lose a net and its just business as usual while the net floats around strangling wildlife or getting caught up in boat props stranding boaters in the open ocean. Nets should be tagged and inventoried for commercial fishermen...period. If they want to make a living they need to keep the ocean clean.

It worries me to see you indicate that ending fishing is the answer. That's not likely to happen, since people's livelihoods are at stake, so it could be more effective to work with the industry to end net and line dumping -- you know, make them out to be the heroes when they make the (trivial) effort to bring their stuff to shore before throwing it away. You guys are the real heroes, though, of course. You're fixing some of the harm people are doing to the planet, and saving these adorable slug-dachhshunds from certain death. I think I'm getting better at spotting the beauties who need help! In such large groups of seals it's hard to see unless it's something with color on it but those with the "transparent" fishing lines are difficult unless the indentation mark around the body is quite obvious and that could be a scar from a former rescue. I agree with the person below my comment Naude. I'm not certain it's as important to you as helping the Seals to live safely and freely, but it is true. Had I not seen a segment or two where you were introduced as the founder, I would not have known. So, to the voices of many others, I add my own. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing what you do. The love and respect you show all things, you are truly a blessing.
