This place is all about sand machines and fishing… oh, and getting stuck lololol

Ha, good times. I did a season on that beach with State Parks. We would drive in 2wd till one of us got stuck then use 4wd to get out, then the next persons turn to drive. Trying to see who could drive the longest before they got stuck. Made it a game while cleaning those porta potties and picking up trash. I grew up on the Mesa and we would ride our dirt bikes down to the ocean in the back way along the railroad tracks way before they put up the fence and closed the best riding areas like Competition Hill and Devils Slide.😊

My favorite part of your video is the night scenes. I was lucky enough to visit back in the 90's It still looks the same Enjoy it. No place in the U.S compares, and I have lived all over

I live about 10 miles south of Pismo and us locals forget it’s even there, it is great to see people from all around enjoying our coast. Have great time wherever you’re here and most of all be safe.

What’s the requirements for camping on the beach? Would I have to make a reservation ahead of time?
@TheLostRVers2 ай бұрын
Just pay the 10 dollars as far as I know. It’s open camping. I don’t think reservations are required or accepted… it’s just a few miles of sand and beach.

I enjoyed the content as well as the location. I’ve been going to Ocean dunes for years. I think you overdid it with the music on the video, I had to turn down the TV to watch the video and then I couldn’t hear your commentary. Just an observation. Keep up the good work and stay safe

Hey thanks👍 Audio has been hard for me, I guess just keep on plugging away. Too high, too low… one day we’ll get it right. Thanks again ….

I haven’t been there in 9yrs I want to surprise my wife by taking her out here so she can learn how to drive in the sand. Is it worth or just packed with Mexicans? Please be honest ? Also I respect what your doing we have a big 5th wheel trailer but I’m looking for something to do with her so she can drive the can am

I wouldn’t worry about the mix of people there, they’re all RVers and that’s the communality. No matter where we go or camp, it’s about RVing😄 Oceano is a sand-buggy paradise for sure… we were there just to try it out, and still had a great time. Go for it. Ps don’t go too far into the wet sand, straddle between wet and dry and don’t slow down until you find your spot. We saw five 5th wheels get stuck mostly in the wet, 1 by going too far up into the soft dry sand and most slowed down or stopped to make a turn. (My observation anyway) It’s a gamble nonetheless. Good luck👍👍

Low tide. Get a tidal guide at any sporting goods stores … the lower the tide the better…. Or better yet just pull it up on Google. 🖐️👍

Did u have to deflate the truck or trailer tires?
@TheLostRVers8 ай бұрын
We didn’t but we saw about 5 rigs get stuck, a few did deflate. I think the trick is to keep Moving until the spot you want to make camp is right on top of you, then turn left without slowing down ( that’s what I did anyway) the two rigs being dug out on this video slowed to a STOP then made the left. Same with the others who deflated, they HESITATED and their tires sunk. I guess the point is: don’t stop until you get to your campsite or you will need to dig out or deflate and hope to get out.
@Sshooter4447 ай бұрын
You should deflate to about 15psi

If you have a F150 your max tire pressure should be 35 psi or 60 psi on your tires. Drop your air pressure down to 15 to 20 psi and you’ll be just fine in the sand. It is 100% normal for you to get that sinking feeling when you’re in sand it is normal. Turn your truck off and try not to and you’ll be perfectly good. it takes a little bit experience and knowledge to know how your truck feels and to know how the sand reacts once you get that down you’ll be really good in the sand. Just like driving in red clay it takes a little bit of a knack to get it down but once you get it, you’ll be good. Now in no way am I telling you that you will never get stuck in sand. Anytime you go off-road in a vehicle you take the chance of getting stuck. Always carry a preferably a Yakima recovery rope in your vehicle, because getting stuck can happen to anybody no matter how good you are.
