When it was first released, it was my winner - besides, only a handful of songs had been released until then. As an Italian who doesn't necessarily wish to see Italy win again, I hope a first-time winner takes the trophy home this year. So Poland is indeed a country that has never won and I'd be delighted if Warsaw 2023 ever happened! However, though I still love "River" and believe it deserves the Top 10, other great songs have been released since this one and now I'm not so sure who my winner is. All I can say is that I find the comparisons to Duncan Laurence really silly (is he the only male singer allowed to do a ballad and sing in falsetto?). Best of luck, Poland! You're still a very worthy entry!

Hi Maxxy, Kristian about lyrics of the song : "In a world where most are under great amounts of stress, we tirelessly plan and think about our future. For whatever reason, we feel this lingering doubt about where that future leads. “River” is about how we want, as well as deserve, a break from all that noise ". I suggest you watch the official music video, I think that then you will form your own opinion. For me, this song is a kind of catharsis. In a world where we have a lot of bad events, emotions, stress, pressure from people around, the river is a place of such a stop, isolating ourselves from everything that happens to us every day. Krystian does not mean suicide or anything negative, but on the contrary - he wants to catch a breath from the noise. The song may sound dark, but it has a very clear message. Unfortunately, the preselection staging was not the best (I mean the colors around him), and it disturbed the song's lyrics a bit, but believe me, the song feels like live. I was at his concert, where he was singing "River" (he dedicated it to Ukraine), and the atmosphere was amazing. Goosebumps. Staging will be changed, Krystian himself has talked about it many times, but I advise you to watch the music video (until the very end). He's really great. I am glad that you like our representative this year. Krystian won "The Voice of Poland 11" (in 2020), he also received the audience award at the festival in Opole "Festival Opole" in 2021, and at the end of the same year he released his debut album entitled Ochman. If you really like Polish music, I recommend you to listen to this album (it is entirely in Polish, except for the English version of the song "Światłocienie"). Poland could not have dreamed of a better representative at the ESC. In addition, he is a wonderful and valuable person with sense and humor, but also modest. Best regards from Poland Maxxy. Justyna.

I enjoyed watching your review Maxxy Rainbow. When I first heard "River," I too also thought this was gonna be a ballad before it went uptempo in the chorus which surprised me the first time I heard it overall. I liked the colors stage-wise here because they fitted with the song although that'll probably change on the Eurovision stage. I also liked the mini-orchestra as well which is always nice hearing as it reminds me of when Eurovision used to have a live orchestra before that went away. Yes, Ochman's voice is good seeing how his Grandfather was an opera singer himself of course. This song is currently in my top 5 along with Spain, Australia, Albania, and Italy so anyone of those along with Poland could win on the night then.

Krystian was born and grew up near Washington, where his parents left during the communist era. He comes from a family with musical traditions - his father played the synthesizer in the band 'Róże Europy', and his grandfather, Wiesław Ochman, is an opera singer. Grandpa was one of the best tenors in the world several decades ago.
Poland = most populous country in Europe never have to have won the ESC, and they've only finished 2nd once (their first try, in 1994). Highest finish since then: 7th. Hard to say why Poland has done so badly in the contest, but this one looks an OK chance for the top 10 ***IF*** the draw is kind and ***IF*** Ochman can find a bit more stage-presence from somewhere.

Guys, if you”re wondering what are these „dementors” dancing - these are „topielice” (drowned), demona from Slavic beliefs. They”re souls of young women who drowned themselves because of misery or were drowned by someone else. They exists in rivers or lakes and are dangerous for the living, especially young men. When they see a man, they catch him and dance around him in a circle, until he dies from exhaustion. Slavic mithology and culture is beautiful and interesting (some of beliefs were presented in the Witcher! Like striga)

The song is good, the voice is amazing, but the performance really puts me off. Talk about dead behind the eyes! Well, we can't even see his eyes! Who is he singing for? Himself? It's all so clinical... And the music video is only slightly better, at least he has his eyes open at times, but...wooden... As a studio version, I'll listen to the song, but that's it
