I really like the form factor (smallish pouch that fits your IFAK contents including the TQ inside) for throwing into a edc bag or other places. Not really concerned with the low vis aspect. Great video Sam!

On the website it says this requires a medical device authorization. Is this primarily for the “advanced” pack with the ARS needle? I was wanting the basic w/hemostatic.
@Javi-L
@Javi-L 3 жыл бұрын
You'll get it with all of them even the basic because of the NPA. It's more to cover themselves from liability, and it's not like you need to upload a license or anything (you just check a box). So if you want it just go ahead and buy it, just don't use anything you don't have the knowledge on/are not allowed by law to use.

NAR is weird about that. You can buy tpak decompression needles on other sites without that bullshit.

I think a small velcro patch area or even a small first aid cross would be good for things like range use, or even edc stuff incase someone else needed to get in it for you, something to let others know its first aid. I get the low profile idea, but is a ifak that standout?

If I have a non-hemostatic abdominal pad and 3" hemostatic gauze, which should I use to treat an abdominal puncture wound?
@thomaspkerrigan520
@thomaspkerrigan520 3 жыл бұрын
Packing the torso (specifically chest, pelvis, and abdomen) is not indicated as the source of bleeding is often too deep to reach with just gauze. The best chance of survival for a patient bleeding from penetrating trauma to the abdomen is direct manual pressure to the wound and an operating table. If evisceration (disembowelment) of organs is present, you could use the abdominal bandage to cover the wound and protect the exposed cavity and organs from outside contaminants. Hemostatic gauze is best used for trauma to areas such as the groin, shoulder area, and lower extremities when a tourniquet cannot be used to control the bleeding effectively. Do yourself a solid and look up the Stop The Bleed course, it’s extremely informative and I think it’ll answer a lot of questions. I hope this helps!

TQ = Life, Hemo gauze = Life, NPA = Life, ARS Needle = Life, Gauze = Life, Chest Seals = Life. Gloves aren’t required to save life/limb I’ll give you that. I don’t know about you but I’d rather shell out 110 bucks than die or watch one of my fellow brothers/sister die.

if you couldn’t afford all 4 which would you choose to carry from: igel, king lts-d, lma, ett
@PrepMedic
@PrepMedic 3 жыл бұрын
Different tools for different situations. ETT is the only definitive airway in that list and it is almost always my primary airway. That being said I never attempt intubation without a backup supraglottic airway ready to go. The LMA and king work great but are a bit harder to do and take a bit longer then the IGEL. Unfortunately the IGEL offers the least airway protection and is the largest packaging out of the entire list despite its amazingly simple to use. Really depends on the level of provider using them and how experienced they are/what other tools they have at their disposal.

@@Vinnytwotime idk, i used my SOG Escape, to cut clothes off the patient in ED, because it just happened to be in my pocket at that moment. Sometimes shears cannot cut through really thick fabric, or start to "chew" on puffy jackets and sweaters, for example, as well as thick winter clothes. I'd much rather prefet a specialized rescue knife, with rounded point, over the shears
