I always wondered why officers graduate in camies vs. enlsted graduating in blues....maybe someone has an answer for me out there somewhere.
@omgitsjakenjames9 жыл бұрын
because graduation and commissioning two separate events. the candidates shown here will return to college to complete their degrees and commission upon graduation. OCC candidates commission immediately after graduation. hope this helps
@MexicanPizzaYummy9 жыл бұрын
+James Sarlo I got the basic information about officers and enlisted. what I'm asking is the theory as to why officers do not graduate OCS in blues. they instead graduate in camies, while enlisted graduate in blues or sometimes service uniforms.
@jeremymendoza14657 жыл бұрын
Patrick Ramsey Because some have the option of not accepting a commission as its not binding upon ocs graduation. When returning to college they can opt for a civilian life instead of an officers commission, hence graduation in utilities and not blues. Not marines really until commissioning ceremony.

When I graduated from USAF officers school in the early 1980's we wore out Dress Blues. We received the oath of office right before the pass in review parade. What an experience it was. After 9 years of enlistment and 12 years as an Officer I retired and do not regret a day. An honor to serve.

Why are some Marines doing that weird leg lift as they march nowadays? I don't remember WWII, Korean War and VietNam War Marines marching this way. Even as late as the 1980s, they didn't march this way.
@dennisplatte75062 жыл бұрын
The music is way too slow----to they can't step out with the band dragging. Check out: --- Marines on Parade in Dress Blues-----to see how we used to march 50 plus years ago. Now Marines are marching a big like the Army----or a HS band. Not right in my opinion either. Comes down to speed of march----and length of step.
@AgressorNation2 жыл бұрын
@@dennisplatte7506 even 20 years ago, Marines were the best marchers in our Armed Forces. The problem is that high knee lift they are doing the last few years. It looks retarded. Marines never did that 20 years ago. I remember seeing the movie “The Tribe” many years ago. It was filmed in the 70s and shows Marines marching during boot camp. That marching was EXQUISITE. I remember rewinding and rewatching those scenes over and over again. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not picking on Marines. I’m Army, and I’ll honestly tell you that Army marching is looking like shit twice expired lately. It’s painful to watch. Soldiers are graduating basic training and they can’t March for shit. As discipline goes down, so does our marching.
@dennisplatte75062 жыл бұрын
@@AgressorNation Hi, I didn't see the tribe-----because I was in the Marines at the time. The marching is much more like we marched in 1969-----when this was filmed. And I agree with you------I can't for the life of me understand the high stepping and shorter steps and slower marching tempo. Looks more like a high school marching band than the way we used to march with our long strides.. To see a bit further back than the Tribe-----go check out the marching in 1941. Just go to: Marines on Parade in Dress Blues. Thanks for sending the Tribe suggestion. And the r. turn for the 1st two platoons were sloppy------more than out of step.

@@dennisplatte7506 back in 1969 Marine marching was phenomenal. Even the Army marched better back then. Marine cadence calling is still pretty good. Not nearly as good as when you were in, but it far better than the Army and other services. Army cadence has become painful to listen to. There are Army videos on YT, where some NCO is calling cadence while soldiers are marching in place. Like WTF????? Who started that idiotic trend. On top of it, most are completely out of step. Something needs to happen. I blame Army Leadership for this. Too much focus on diversity, EO and SHARP.
@dennisplatte75062 жыл бұрын
@@AgressorNation Agree. You can find Marines drilling with rifles by the dozens on KZbin-----some good but much the new way of marching. But for some reason I can't find Army vidoes of basic training rifle drill----or even marching with their rifles. If you find the Army doing rifle drill for score in basic send it along. And if you check out the Marines on Parade in Dress Blues from pre-WWII-----you will see two short Marines in the back of the dress green group out of step-----really out of step.
