Good that you have a named Galley. Do you not think that you need something to prevent the pot from sliding off when the boat is hit by waves? If it is boiling hot things in the pot. A friend of mine got boiling waters in his boot.

I was wondering the same thing. A small adjustable cage from stainless steel would probably be a good direction. Perhaps a better salutation would have been lowering the stove below the swinging shelf's bottom. By cutting out a hole the size of the stove and mounting it below. Not only would it reduce the top heaviness when pots or on it, but also move a lot of the weight lower down. Making the swinging action more stable. Either way, it's always easy to modify something later on, after you've seen how things behave in normal use.

The meticulously precise attention to detail and superb craftsmanship that have become a byword for your build are evident throughout this video! Having a dedicated galley area will be particularly welcome at sea and with good ergonomics this compact, uncluttered addition looks just about perfect.

Pretty good job ! You might consider a jetboiler for safety in rough conditions. The guys racing in mini 650 (and even larger boats) all use the jetboiler hanging on a sort of bungie cord up and down. Just good enough to have warm water to put in a freezed dryed meal but it's better than having to use Biafine !!!

I love it!! Graet project and well thought through. I would only make a few changes if I were to build one for myself. Those changes have to do with ease of clean up, longevity, and minimizing maintanace. 1). I would eliminate all the interior glue strips and replace with fillets, for ease of cleaning, I feel it will be difficult to keep the 90 degree corners clean. 45 degree wood strips could accomplish the same thing. 2). I would epoxy all the wood before assembling the tray. 3) I would epoxy and fiberglass both the interior and exterior with the lightest and easiest cloth to work with. this would add strength and longevity. 4). I love the color you painted it... but if possible I would use a 2 part epoxy paint. This would eliminate maintenance for a long long time, and making clean up easier too.

I'd say this is one of your better videos. One possibility to consider would be to have, in addition to pot clamps, some extension inserts that would ensure that any spillage (say from a boiling pot) would be contained in the 'galley'. For pan cooking, these would just stay in storage or have some other use. Maybe they could hinge up from the short sides? Anything to prevent a lap full of boiling water in the middle of the Pacific.

@@ocean_capable_small_sailboat another thing I meant to mention was to consider modifying your gimbal to two axis system. For a small vessel, the motion can be just as extreme in pitch and roll. It looks like you may have room (height wise) to add another gimbal axis. I do realize it's all just added convenience, but those niceties could really boost your spirits on a long trip.

A (or two) metal rod (s) whose ends pivot about an axis on either side of the burner so that there is a sort of clamshell that captures the pot on the stove. A latch can hold it together over the pot. Was hoping to see a cooking segment as shown in the thumbnail. Feel slightly conned.

It’s too bad they discontinued the Origo 1500, 3000 and 6000 when Dometic bought Origo. Actually there is a small Swedish company who just recently started up the classic production again but under the name Oriondo. Unfortunately at the moment they have only started with the 3000 but rumors say they will continue with the others if the demand is high enough.
