Preparing my final output settings was a bit confusing when I was learning Octane so I thought I would share a "Getting Started" tutorial in case you're new to the program. This will go over some tips/tricks and gotchas to look out for when setting up object buffers and multi-passes. Hope it helps!

Hey there! Buffer one includes the whole scene by default. In your case, it includes everything(pyramid and BG), except other figures, as they have different buffer ID. Also, if you use buffer for 1 object only, it's much easier to export mat ID or object ID(change by changing «Bake ID» parameter) pass and use those in post. Good luck, Dmytro

You've probably figured it out by now but if you have an object tag on your floor by default it's Layer ID is 1. So when you render you're seeing your floor and triangle on the same layer and it looks like it's not working.

Another thing you can do is to make an Octane object tag. Set its Layer ID to 100 or something similar. In the attributes panel go to Edit > Set as Default. Now whenever you make a new object tag the layer ID is set to 100.

ID=1 is a default value for every object in the scene - Documentation. So it rendered all white with the piramide included, but other IDs excluded.

Hi, hopefully i get a reply, I was wondering, does the MAIN RENDER gets done in the multi-pass or do you still have to set up the file where to save the main render and passes desperately ? Hope that makes sense. But thanks for this video, really made things clear.

hey, thanks for your video! do you know how i can render out my object's position/scale/rotation in keyframes through octane? I know the standard routine would be to put an external compositing tag on to the object, but with that my null will be dependent by the camera layer (in AE), and it will block all my render passes.

That's insane that the object buffer passes add so much render time using Octane. Looks like an rgb multi matte pass using the standard render is the way to go if you need object buffers.

Octane uses a Object layer ID of 1 by default for every object in your scene(with or without octane object tag applied) And because 1 is default you won't see it in the render passes. Can't remeber which video, but he explained it better than I can.
