Yes, this pedal does a lot! I feel like every time I go to use it I learn new tricks. Thanks for watching.

Both sound good! But I'm really excited to try this (I own a ring thing and a blues driver) ring thing is an under-appreciated device. I bought it for ring modulation, but I really like it as a harmonizer. I look forward to checking out your other videos.

Thanks! I’m always impressed at how much the RingThing can do. Let me know how your experimenting works out.

The Octavia has a slightly better tone which I'm guessing is due to more low pass bass emphasis while never the less allowing a high pass emphasis also. The greater the emphasis of the lower side bands the more "rich" the tone. If for example you play a note of 1000Hz and another of 1100Hz the lower sideband will be the difference between them, it will be 100HZ, a low bass frequency. the more we hear the lows the "richer" the sound.

+Chris Quigley Thanks! I have some more videos demoing other aspects of these pedals if you want to check them out. Thanks for watching!!

Try this out. The reason why your octavia pedal is so loud is because some pedals like the octavia do not work well with pedals with buffered outputs. Try putting it first in your chain or after a line of pedals with true-bypass...

You are 100% right. I just watched this video again (it’s been a while) and I’m surprised that I put the Ring Thing first in the chain. I always put my Octavia first when I have it on my board. Thanks for calling this out.

Ive got a fairfield circuitry Randy's revenge and I tried to get this octave effect on it by using a delay petal as a splitter and hooking that second signal into the “cv” jack, yea didnt work the way i wanted it too lol. Got any suggestions?

That is a wonderful octavia sound, very good job, just one question, do you think is possible to get that sound without using an overdive pedal in the Mod in and the Right Out of the Ring Thing like you did ? i have the pedal but i just can't get that sound man.... Thanks a lot.

+lowrence mayfield you need some sort of drive pedal in a loop to boost and distort it into Octavia territory. If I had a channel switcher it would be a much better option. It kinda sucks having to eat up so much pedal board space with a second pedal just to make one Octavia sound. I'd rather just put a small octavia on my board, ya know? But if you don't have an Octavia and you do have a RingThing and overdrive it's a terrific way to create the sound.

Thanks a lot, i think i'll stick with the octavia pedal that i've got already, much easier, but i really like the sound that you've got by using the loop. Cheers.

Can't get mine to do this... no idea why, tried with a drive and a fuzz, but they dont seem to have any effect on the tone. Followed your instructions, but nada.

Hummmmmm..... I wish I could help answer this. You have the output from the drive pedal going into the MOD input on the Right Thing, correct?
@jimsy5530

@@JeffStarr Yup, I copied your setup exactly. I tried two different pedals too, a drive and a fuzz, and different cables, made no difference to sound. Very weird. I've ever used the second out though, so perhaps it's not working, and I never realised.

What if you put a fuzz or a bigger boost in the loop of the Ring Thing? Also both pedals on sounds best.

It's been a while since I did this set up with a Fuzz in the loop, but it's a similar effect. If I remember correctly it's less articulate sounding, but that's to be expected I guess. Thanks for watching!

Hi, wouldn't it be better to use the pitch-shifting mode on the RT?
@JeffStarr
@JeffStarr 7 жыл бұрын
+JCBigCat good question! This hack allows you to create a different type of vintage octave effect similar to an octave fuzz. The pitch shift mode is strictly a digital clean pitch shift like a whammy. Similar but they sound different.
